The present invention provides a blend which exhibits enhanced hiding power and comprises (a) at least one effect pigment and (b) aluminum pigment. The present blend is advantageously used in automotive and industrial paint applications.

Aluminum effect pigment blends

A laminar pigment which has hydrolyzed silane coupling agent treated surface is used as a pigment for a powder coating composition. By combining the pigment with a powdery film-forming polymer, a film-forming composition, which can be applied by electrostatic coating is produced. With the addition of leveling agent to the silane treated products, the spray properties of effect pigments are improved. The products of this invention are useful in all types of automotive and industrial paint applications.

Use of effect pigments in ingested drugs

A precious metal color effect material is composed of a plurality of encapsulated substrate platelets in which each platelet is encapsulated with a first layer selected from the group consisting of silver, gold, platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, osmium, iridium and the alloys thereof, which acts as a reflector to light directed thereon, a second layer encapsulating the first layer in which the second layer provides an optically variable reflection of light impinging thereon and a third layer encapsulating the second layer and being selectively transparent to light directed thereon.

Precious metal color effect materials and production thereof

A pearlescent pigment comprises C glass flakes having a first layer comprising rutile titanium dioxide or iron oxide thereon and a second layer comprising hydrous oxide or hydroxide of a polyvalent cation, precipitate of said polyvalent cation, and an anionic polymeric compound. A hydrous layer of the rutile forming titanium dioxide or iron oxide is first formed on the glass flakes and the resulting coated flakes are calcined prior to the application of the second layer.

Pearlescent glass pigment

A pearlescent pigment consists essentially of C glass flakes having a layer comprising rutile titanium dioxide or iron oxide thereon. A hydrous layer of the rutile forming titanium dioxide or iron oxide is formed on the glass flakes and the resulting coated flakes are calcined.

A titanium dioxide- or iron oxide-coated mica pearlescent pigment having a coating which contains a combination of hydrated cerium and aluminum oxides has enhanced weatherstability.

Weather resistant pearlescent pigments

Iron oxide-coated micaceous pigments having a chroma enhancing amount of a coating of a colorless metal oxide which has a refractive index of at least about 2.0 exhibit intensely colored effects.
