A particular method includes creating a financial planning goal for a financial planning client based at least in part on a financial planning objective. A financial planning recommendation is associated with the financial planning goal, and data identifying the financial planning goal and the financial planning recommendation is stored in a data store. The method also includes monitoring activity of the financial planning client and at least one other financial planning client to detect a financial planning trend. In response to the detected trend, a financial planning product is selected for potential incorporation into subsequent recommendation(s).

Management of goals and recommendations

A particular method includes identifying a financial planning objective for a financial planning client and creating a financial planning goal for the financial planning client based at least in part on the financial planning objective. A financial planning recommendation is associated with the financial planning goal, and data identifying the financial planning goal and the financial planning recommendation is stored in a data store. The method also includes monitoring activity of the financial planning client and at least one other financial planning client to detect a financial planning trend. In response to the detected trend, a financial planning product is selected for potential incorporation into subsequent recommendation(s).

The system facilitates portfolio advising and planning for a client. The system includes a portfolio integration module configured to receive and integrate data, wherein the data includes a client's goals, assets, savings and risk tolerance, wherein the portfolio integration module is further configures to compute a customized strategy based on the received data. The portfolio reconciler module is configured to compare a customized strategy to at least one of the other strategies, based on the received and integrated data in order to further facilitate the financial portfolio planning of the client, wherein the financial portfolio planning analyzes both planned hypothetical events and unplanned hypothetical events. The stochastic modeling module is configures to further analyze proposed situation portfolios based on future uncertainties, wherein future uncertainties include the unplanned hypothetical events. The simulation module is configured to compute the probability of meeting the client's goals.

System and method for providing financial planning and advice

Methods, systems, and computer-readable media are disclosed for managing goals and recommendations. A particular method includes identifying one or more financial planning objectives for a financial planning client, receiving information relating to the one or more financial planning objectives, and creating a financial planning goal for the financial planning client based at least in part on an analysis of the information. One or more financial planning recommendations are associated with the financial planning goal, and data identifying the financial planning goal and the one or more financial planning recommendations is stored in a data store. The method also includes monitoring progress of the financial planning client with respect to the financial planning goal over at least a portion of a financial planning lifecycle.

The present financial planning and advice system allows an advisor to provide proactive, efficient service to clients. An advisor can analyze a client's relationship(s) with his/her family, business and pension to provide overall financial planning and security. The financial planning and advice system includes numerous innovative, coordinated features including, inter alia, demographic and financial data files, a Virtual Executor, a financial Simulator, an Earmarker, a Strategizer, and a Proposal Constructor. For example, Virtual Executor preferably simulates the steps required to settle a person's estate from the moment of death until all property, net of costs and taxes, is suitably distributed to survivors (i.e., surviving family members, etc.). Virtual Executor suitably determines the legal survivors of the decedent, and suitably transfers to financial Simulator the net amounts passing to the survivors. As another example, Financial Simulator not only simulates the results of Virtual Executor disbursement, but it also simulates the combination of the disbursements and the resources already belonging to the survivors before the death occurred.
