A thermoplastic wheel hub () includes a center hub () for attachment to a wheel bearing () of a vehicle. The center hub () has a central shaft aperture () extending axially therethough and a plurality of lug apertures () spaced radially from and circumferentially about the central shaft aperture (). The thermoplastic wheel hub () also includes a plurality of ribs () extending radially outwardly from the center hub (). The thermoplastic wheel hub () further includes a cylindrical tire mount () connected to the ribs and extending axially in substantially a plane for mounting a non-pneumatic tire () thereon.

Thermoplastic wheel hub

A ladder including a first stringer and a second stringer spaced transverse from each other is provided. Each of the first and second stringers defines a channel and includes a plurality of crosspieces disposed in the channels of the first and second stringers. A plurality of rungs are spaced along and coupled between the first and second stringers. Each of the rungs has a horizontal portion and a vertical portion extending from the first stringer to the second stringer. A plurality of ribs are spaced along and coupled between the horizontal and vertical portions of the rungs.

A frictional weld joint couples first and second body portions of an article together. The frictional weld joint comprises a first bead extending from the first body portion of the article and a second bead extending from the second body portion of the article. The second bead has an interior stem and an exterior stem space from the interior stem defining a cavity therebetween. The first and second beads are placed in contact with each other with the centerline of the second bead offset from the centerline of the first bead. A force is applied to either the first or second body portions to generate friction between the first and second beads to plastically displace the first and second beads. The force is removed for fusing the first and second beads together to couple together the first and the second body portions of the article.

Frictional weld joint for an article comprising a thermoplastic material

A frictional weld joint couples together first and second body portions of an article. The first body portion has a first nominal wall thickness and a first joint surface. The second body portion has a second nominal wall thickness and a second joint surface. A total bead height is defined between the joint surfaces. A first bead extends from the first joint surface defining a first bead height. A second bead extends from the second joint surface and is coupled to the first bead. A final second bead height is defined between the first bead and the second joint surface. A ratio of the first bead height to the final second bead height is of from about 0.40 to about 1.70. A ratio of the total bead height to at least one of the first and second nominal wall thicknesses is equal to or less than 6.00.

A basket assembly () for a washing machine includes a basket and a support bracket () adjacent the basket. The basket has a first end () and a second end () and defines a cavity at the first end for receiving laundry. The support bracket () includes a base () having a front side () and at least two attachment portions () extending from the front side. The attachment portions are spaced from each other and are connected to the second end () of the basket. At least two fins () integrally extend from the front side of the base toward the first end of the basket. The fins () are integral with the attachment portions () of the support bracket () for reinforcing the attachment portions.

Basket assembly for a washing machine

A thermoplastic article can be mounted to a support structure by a fastener. The article includes a molded body having a length. The molded body also has an attachment surface configured to face the support structure and a show surface opposite the attachment surface. The molded body defines an interior channel separating the attachment surface and the show surface. The article also includes a attachment boss coupled to and extending from the attachment surface for receiving the fastener to mount the article to the support structure. The attachment boss extends through the attachment surface and into the interior channel of the molded body for reinforcing the attachment boss at the attachment surface.

Thermoplastic article for mounting to a support structure

An article for mounting to a support structure via a fastener-includes a molded body made from a first thermoplastic material. The molded body has a length. The molded body also has an attachment surface spaced from the support structure and a show surface opposite the attachment surface. The article also includes a fastening insert made of a second thermoplastic material and disposed within the molded body for receiving the fastener to mount the article to the support structure. The fastening insert has a flange extending along the length of the molded body. The fastening insert also has a boss coupled to and extending from the flange and the attachment surface for receiving the fastener. The flange defines a plurality of holes with the first thermoplastic material disposed in the holes for anchoring the fastening insert in the molded body.

Article mounted to a support structure

A basket assembly for a washing machine includes a basket and a bracket attached to the basket. A motor is coupled to the bracket and the bracket transmits rotation from the motor to the basket. The support bracket is formed of a thermoplastic and includes a hub and fins spaced from each other extending radially from the hub. Each of the fins has an attachment portion connected to the basket. The support bracket includes a reinforcement rod spaced from the hub extending from one of the fins to another of the fins for reinforcing the fins when the support bracket transmits rotation from the motor to the basket.

Polymeric trap with adsorbent

A starting device has a strip connected to a pulley for a pull start mechanism. The strip is composed of a high performance plastic and is provided with an integral handle. A connection means connects the strip to the pulley on its distal end. The strip fits neatly in a coil around a pulley hub. It lays flat during storage and exerts substantially no lateral pressure against the walls of the pulley. With this construction, the strip does not fray and affords a storing mechanism that is cleaner than a conventional rope system. The starting device has few parts and is easy to assemble. It is lightweight, inexpensive to construct and facilitates starting in an efficient, reliable manner.

Starting device for internal combustion engines

A starting device has a rotary drive member that is operable by hand or power devices. The device has a detented or geared strip arranged to engage with a similarly detented or geared starting wheel. The teeth of these parts are designed to grab and lock with each other in the starting direction and to slip past each other in the opposite direction. Crimping, sticking and other failure modes of conventional wind up rope units are virtually eliminated. A more consistent pull is afforded owing to a constant radius interface with the starter wheel rather than a diminishing radius of the type delivered by a wound rope.
