Polyethylene blends for blow molding processes are disclosed, comprising from 12 to 25 weight percent of high molecular weight component, 5 to 83 weight percent of a medium molecular weight component, and 5 to 83 weight percent of the low molecular weight component, wherein the ratio of high molecular weight to medium molecular weight is greater or equal to 1.7 and the ratio of medium molecular weight to low molecular weight is greater or equal to 1.7, and wherein the blend has a melt index in the range of 0.01 to 2.0.

Ethylene polymer composition for blow molding

A method for altering the transparency of a stable hexagonal polymorphic poly(butene-1) obtained from unstable tetragonal crystalline poly(butene-1) comprising contacting the tetragonal crystalline poly(butene-1) with a volatile solvent for a short time, then removing from the solvent, and allowing solvent adhereing to the poly(butene-1) to evaporate. The finished polymer can be opaque, transparent, or translucent depending upon the solvent and temperature used.

Transparent and translucent poly(butene-1)

Alkyl alcohols are separated from alkyldimethylamines using an immiscible solvent mixture comprising a polar solvent (e.g. dimethylformamide) and a nonpolar solvent (e.g. hexane). The process is particularly useful for C.sub.12-14 alcohols and C.sub.12-14 alkyldimethylamines.
