A surgical instrument includes a handle assembly and a shaft assembly extending distally from the handle assembly and having a distal end sized to be inserted into the nasal cavity of a patient. The shaft assembly includes a cutting member configured to cut tissue within the nasal cavity, and a translating member slidably disposed over the cutting member. A navigation sensor is disposed within the distal end of the shaft assembly and is operable to generate a signal corresponding to a position of the distal end within the patient.

Turbinate reduction instrument

A surgical instrument includes an elongate shaft having a proximal shaft portion and a malleable distal shaft portion. The elongate shaft is configured to be secured to a supporting surgical instrument. An ablation head is coupled to the malleable distal shaft portion and includes at least one electrode operable to deliver RF energy to tissue for ablating the tissue. The ablation head is sized to fit within the nasal cavity of a patient with a distal end of the supporting surgical instrument. The proximal shaft portion is configured to operatively couple with an RF energy source operable to energize the at least one electrode with RF energy. The malleable distal shaft portion is configured to bend relative to a longitudinal shaft axis defined by the proximal shaft portion for selectively orienting the ablation head relative to the longitudinal shaft axis.

Instrument for endoscopic posterior nasal nerve ablation

A method includes inserting a first dilation catheter into a first nostril of a patient. A first dilator of the first dilation catheter is positioned between the nasal septum of the patient and the turbinate of the patient. The first dilator is expanded, thereby remodeling one or more of the nasal septum, the turbinate, or mucosal tissue of the patient. The first dilation catheter is removed from the nostril of the patient. A second dilation catheter may be inserted into a second nostril of the patient. A dilator of the second dilation catheter may provide an opposing force on the nasal septum to prevent over-medialization of the nasal septum.

Method of treating deviated nasal septum, enlarged nasal turbinate, or mucosal hypertrophy

A surgical instrument assembly includes a surgical instrument having an instrument body, an elongate member with a distal end configured to be inserted into an anatomical passageway of a patient, a sensor operable to generate a signal corresponding to a location of the elongate member, and a first electrical connector electrically coupled with the sensor. The assembly further includes a cable assembly having a cable that communicates with a processor, and a coupling that releasably couples with the instrument body. The coupling includes a coupling body having first and second lateral sides that extend parallel to one another and are configured to extend parallel to a side of the instrument body when the coupling is coupled with the instrument body. The coupling includes a second electrical connector that electrically couples with the first electrical connector to transmit the signal from the sensor proximally through the cable and toward the processor.

Connector to couple surgical instrument with navigation system

A surgical navigation system includes an endoscope having a body, a shaft having a distal shaft end, an optical conduit, and a moveable optical element. The moveable optical element is configured to provide a field of view defining a line of sight, and is operable to capture an image within the field of view. The system further includes a drive mechanism operable to move the movable optical element to adjust a direction of the line of sight, a navigation sensor operable to generate a signal corresponding to a location of the distal shaft end within a patient, and a processor. The processor is operable to determine a location of the distal shaft end within the patient based on the signal, and command the drive mechanism to position the movable optical element so the line of sight is directed toward a selected point of interest within the patient.

An apparatus includes a body, an upright member, a frame, and a plurality of field generating elements. The body is configured to be positioned between a patient's back and a backrest of a chair. The upright member extends upwardly from the body. The frame has a curved configuration configured to partially surround a patient's head. The field generating elements are configured to generate an electromagnetic field around a patient's head partially surrounded by the frame.
