Described herein is a polymerizable composition substantially free of an organic emulsifier, methods of making, and articles thereof. The polymerizable composition comprises: a continuous phase; a polymerizable monomer; an initiator; and inorganic nanoparticles, wherein the inorganic nanoparticles are substantially free of groups that will copolymerize with the polymerizable monomer.

Compounds having hindered amine and oxyalkyl amine light stabilizers can mitigate the adverse effects of actinic radiation, such as visible and ultraviolet light, in particular on substrates such as glass or ceramic substrates. Polymers derived from such compounds. Nanoparticles, substrates, such as glass or ceramic substrates, or both nanoparticles and substrates, having such compounds affixed thereto. Embodiments of the invention relate to an extension apparatus and method for attaching to a trailer tongue having a trailer hitch defining a first plane. The apparatus comprises a suspension bar defining a second plane and has a proximal end and a distal end, a ball adapted to be removably received in the trailer hitch and positioned between the suspension bar proximal and distal ends and a block positioned on the suspension bar distal end. A first extension portion defines a third plane and has a proximal end and a distal end, the first extension portion proximal end defines an opening adapted to removably receive the block, and the first extension distal end having a trailer hitch adapted to removably engage a ball on a vehicle. A permanent receiver mount is adapted to removably engage at least one of the trailer tongue and the suspension bar.

Trailer extension apparatus and method

A method of crystallization is provided. The method includes providing a solution comprising a solute dissolved in a first solvent. The method includes providing a dispersion comprising a plurality of nanoparticles in a second solvent. The first solvent and the second solvent are mutually miscible. The method includes combining the solution and the dispersion to form a mixture. The nanoparticles remain dispersed in the mixture and the solute remains dissolved in the mixture at or below a saturation concentration. The method includes cooling the mixture such that the solute exceeds the saturation concentration forming crystals in the presence of the dispersed nanoparticles. The method includes separating the crystals from the mixture, wherein the nanoparticles remain dispersed in the mixture.

Method of crystallization

Low viscosity, radiation curable fluid formulations that can be used advantageously as radiation curable, inks. The formulations are easily prepared for use in ink jet systems. The viscosity of the compositions is low enough so that conventional solvent is not required in order to satisfy the requisite low ink jet viscosity specifications. After curing, the compositions form durable, weatherable, abrasion resistant, printed images on a wide variety of porous and nonporous substrates. The formulations are very suitable for outdoor printing applications, especially for printing outdoor graphics onto a variety of surfaces, including vinyl or other polymer films commonly used for signage, retroreflective signage or other retroreflective items.

Weather resistant, ink jettable, radiation curable, fluid compositions particularly suitable for outdoor applications

A method is disclosed. The method comprises combining at least a polymer adhesive material, a thickener, and water to form adhesive compositions having a pH of 4 to 10, and identifying the adhesive compositions having a stringing length of 9 cm or less and one or more of the following properties: a set time of 180 seconds or less, a phase lag of 45 degrees or less, a viscosity of 3,000 to 50,000 cP, a complex shear modulus of 50 to 1000 Pa, and a sag distance of 10 mm or less.

Adhesive

An adhesive composition includes a polymer adhesive material and a thickener. The adhesive composition has a stringing length of 9 cm or less and a phase lag of 45 degrees or less or a sag distance of 5 mm or less. The adhesive can be formed by combining a vinyl acetate polymer, an alkali swellable thickener, an alkali material, and water.

Described is a curable dispersant, inks or coating including the curable dispersant, and articles comprising a substrate and the inks or coatings that include the curable dispersant.

Curable dispersants

The present invention is directed to an abrasive article and methods of making the abrasive article. An abrasive coating on the abrasive article comprises at least 20% by weight of a superabrasive particle. The abrasive coating is derived from an abrasive slurry. The abrasive slurry may comprise and a dispersant having an AV wherein AV=1000*[(Amine Value)/(Mw)]. The dispersant comprises a polymer having a molecular weight (Mw) of greater than 500 g/mol and an AV of greater than 4.5, a polymer having a molecular weight (Mw) of greater than 10,000 g/mol and an AV of greater than 1.0, or a polymer having a molecular weight (Mw) of greater than 100,000 g/mol and an AV of greater than 0.

Formulations for coated diamond abrasive slurries

Coating solutions comprising surface-modified nanoparticles, a first liquid having a vapor pressure, VP, and a second liquid miscible with the first liquid, having a vapor pressure, VP, that is less than VP, wherein the nanoparticles are more compatible with the first liquid than with the second liquid, are provided. Methods of applying and drying these solutions, and articles comprising substrates coated with these solutions are also provided.

Solution containing surface-modified nanoparticles

Inkjet printing apparatus for use with radiation curable ink includes a sensor for sensing the amount of radiation emitted by a source of radiation. A controller is connected to the sensor and is operable to vary the amount of radiation emitted by the radiation source in accordance with a signal received from the sensor. A drive mechanism moves the source of radiation to a location laterally offset from the substrate where the sensor is positioned.

Method and apparatus for inkjet printing using radiation curable ink

Low viscosity, radiation curable urethane oligomer, preferably a radiation curable polyester urethane oligomer, that can be incorporated into radiation curable ink compositions. Preferred embodiments are suitable for ink jetting applications. The ink jettable embodiments are particularly well-suited for use in piezo ink jet printers. The viscosity characteristics of the compositions are such that conventional solvent is not required in order to satisfy the requisite low ink jet viscosity specifications. The oligomer generally is a reaction product of ingredients comprising an aliphatic polyisocyanate; and a radiation curable, polyester alcohol comprising one or more radiation curable moieties, one or more hydroxyl moieties, and one or more ester moieties.
