In one embodiment of the invention, photo-chromic and phosphorescent toys are disclosed. A photo-chromic and phosphorescent toy includes both photo-chromic and phosphorescent materials applied to the toy such as through an ink, paint, plastic, or dye. The photo-chromic and phosphorescent materials may be supplied within a material of the toy or applied-to a surface of the toy at the factory. The photo-chromic and phosphorescent materials may be activated in various ways with various light activating devices that can generate an activating light with appropriate wavelengths.

Light emitting decorative panels using a light source at the edge thereof that may have a desired uniformity of light emission from a pattern thereon, and which are not subject to local shadows (shading) in a pattern part from patterns or pattern parts between the respective pattern or pattern part and the light source. The elimination of shading is achieved by the depressions of a given geometry disposed in an arc having a center at the light source, and sizes each depression or arc segment of a depression in being chosen accordance with 1), the distance of the respective depression or depression segment from the source of light, and 2), the number of depressions between the respective depression and the source of light, with a second order correction for the position of depressions between the respective depression and the source of light.

In one embodiment of the invention, a spinning or rotatable flexible disk toy is disclosed. The spinning or rotatable flexible disk toy includes a hand-held housing, an electric motor, a switch, and a flexible disk. The electric motor is mounted in the hand-held housing and has a rotatable shaft. The switch is mounted in the hand-held housing and electrically coupled to the electric motor to selectively provide power to the electric motor. The flexible disk is coupled to the rotatable shaft of the electric motor.

In one embodiment of the invention, photo-chromic applicators are disclosed. The photo-chromic applicator may include a liquid photo-chromic material such as a photo-chromic ink or paint. The photo-chromic material is applied to a surface of a toy, a page, or other object by a child user. The photo-chromic material may be activated in various ways with various light activating devices that can generate the activating light with appropriate wavelengths.
