A key interlock system for an automatic floor mounted transmission shifter adapted to be used with an ignition key located in the steering column and adapted to translate a key slide actuator upon rotation of the key through a pinion acting on a gear rack on the slide actuator includes a cable assembly with a conduit fixed at one end adjacent the ignition key and at the other end adjacent the automatic floor mounted transmission shifter. A strand is connected at one end to a spring loaded pawl adjacent the actuator and at the opposite end to a shifter cam plate adjacent the shifter. In the key out position, the pawl engages the key actuator placing the strand in tension so that the shifter is prevented from movement from a park position. When the key is advanced to the start, run or off position, the pawl engages a groove in the key actuator allowing the shifter cam plate to be moved from park position to the desired drive gear position. When the shifter is advanced to a drive position, the shifter cam plate is held in a position so that the pawl cannot return to a position which will permit the key actuator to move to a key out position due to the engagement of the pawl with the edge of the groove in the key actuator. Upon return of the shifter to park position, the cam plate relieves the tension on the strand so thar the pawl will move out of engagement with the groove edge on the key actuator, permitting the key to be turned to the key out or accessory positions.

Key interlock system for automatic floor mounted transmission shifter

A control cable anchor for securing a control cable in an opening having an elongated body with a shouldered end, axial slots in the body surface and locking pawls positioned within the slots. The pawls have a first end spaced from the shouldered end of the body which cooperates with the shouldered end to sandwich a wall which defines the opening. The pawls have a fulcrum point which engages the bottom of the slots. The pawls are biased into their first or locking position but may pivot about the fulcrum to be retracted at least partially beneath the body surface for insertion through the opening.

Automatic conduit anchorage device

A twisted cable assembly and a method of making the same. The cable assembly comprises first and second spaced apart end spools and a continuous length of wire. The wire is looped around and extends between the end spools, and sections of the wire between the end spools are twisted into a composite strand. With one embodiment, an elongated malleable wire also is connected to and extends between the end spools to hold the cable assembly selectively in a range of curved positions. With an alternate embodiment, a stiffening wire is connected to and extends between the end spools to inhibit bending of the cable assembly.

Twisted cable assembly and a method of making the same

A device to translate oscillatory motion into reciprocal motion where the device includes a rigid tubular guide conduit connected to a flexible conduit. The rigid guide conduit includes a first arcuate portion having a keyhole slot extending through a side wall of the rigid conduit. The arcuate portion of the guide conduit is connected to a second straight portion which extends perpendicular to the plane of the arcuate portion and is connected to the arcuate portion by a curved portion. A core is movable within the rigid and flexible conduits and is connected to a tab extending through the slot.

Device to translate oscillatory motion into reciprocating motion

A self-adjusting cable control device for automatically compensating for wear in a control cable system. The device includes a termination member connected at one end of a control cable and a connecting member attached to an actuation member. The connecting member carries a clutch for locking with the termination member upon application of force to the actuation member. Spring means are provided to move the cable with respect to the actuation member when the clutch is disengaged from the termination member.

A self-adjusting cable conduit mechanism for automatically compensating for wear in a control cable system adapted to connect a controlled member with an actuation member in order to maintain proper tension and tolerances in the system.

Self-adjusting cable conduit mechanism

A termination anchorage for anchoring a circular termination member having an annular groove into a U-shaped slot contained in a bracket. A coil spring lock surrounds and engages the tubular member and has a tip which engages a hole in the bracket to lock the termination member into the slot.

Termination anchorage

An anchorage assembly for a safety belt which exhibits sufficient flexibility in a lateral direction to permit a passenger to slide thereover and sufficient rigidity in at least one perpendicular direction to permit one-handed coupling of the safety belt and anchorage assembly. The preferred embodiment comprises a composite plastic and cable member of substantially rectangular cross section. A pair of substantially parallel cable lengths extend longitudinally between end reinforcing members, and one or more intermediate reinforcing members extend transversely between the cable lengths to restrain them to a predetermined maximum spacing. Such a structure is highly flexible in the lateral direction perpendicular to the plane of the cables and substantially rigid in the directions within the plane.

Safety belt anchorage assembly

A push-pull cable electrically insulating an operator from an electrically conductive device to which the cable is connected. The cable includes a non-conductive flexible elongated core encased in a non-conductive flexible tubular member. The tubular member has an effective inner diameter which allows movement of the core therethrough.

Non-conductive push-pull cable

A spliceless longitudinally extending strand structure and method of fabricating the same which method embodies the steps of stranding at least one generally elongated strand wire about a first individual core wire segment to form a first outer layer segment, bonding a second core wire segment to the first core wire segment, bonding a second generally elongated strand wire to each of the first strand wires and stranding the second strand wires about second core wire segment as a second outer layer segment to form a continuous length of a strand structure. This process is continued until a strand structure of desired length is obtained. A stranded cable is formed by helically twisting a plurality of strand structures together. In the strand structure, the bonded joints connecting the strand wires between adjacent outer layer segments are spaced from the joint between the associated core wire segments and from each other longitudinally of the strand structure. Also, the core wires and strand wires of each of the successive segments are of decreasing diameter to form a stepped tapered structure.
