An electrical component of the type including a housing, a component element located within the housing, and at least a pair of electrical connectors coupled to the component element and electrically accessible from outside of the housing, provides a resistive element electrically contacting both of the connectors and including a predetermined, finite electrical resistance for forming an electrical path of known resistance between the connectors.

Electrical component having a resistance element

An electrical device includes a housing having an open end for receiving an electrical component, a rigid member for sealing the open end to contain the electrical component within the housing, and an apparatus positioned between the electrical component and the rigid sealing member for anchoring the electrical component within the housing. The anchoring apparatus includes a center section, at least two angularly spaced arms extending radially outward from the center section, a locator extending axially outward from the center section for engaging the electrical component, posts extending axially outward from each of the arms for engaging the rigid sealing member to restrict movement of the center section and the arms relative to the rigid sealing member, and a plurality of spaced fingers extending axially outward from the arms for engaging the electrical component.

Anchoring apparatus for an electrical device

An electrical device includes a housing having an open end for receiving an electrical component, the housing including an inwardly extending flange located in proximity to the open end and the flange having surface area facing into the housing and away from the open end, anchoring structure adapted for positioning between the electrical component and the open end, the anchoring structure including a hub and at least two arms extending radially outwardly from the hub, the arms including radially extending ends having an effective distance therebetween which is larger than the size of the open end of the housing, and an abutment for abutting the hub against the electrical component, the arms being adapted for concave resilient deflection thereof into the housing for creating a biasing force against the electrical component and for reducing the effective distance between the radially extending ends for permitting installation of the anchoring structure into the open end and past the flange for engaging the radially extending ends against the surface area to maintain the deflection of the arms and thus the biasing force on the electrical component.

Anchoring means for an electrical device

A means for and method of closing an opening in a body housing electrical component means having external terminal means. The means for and method of closing the body includes immersing in a bath the body having an opening communicating with a void in the body and electrical component means in the void in the body. The body immersed in the bath has the void filled with material of the bath thru the opening. While immersed in the bath, the body is contacted with means for closing the opening of the body so as to retain the electrical component means and material of the bath within the body. The closed body with the electrical component means and material of the bath is then removed from the bath. The means and method have particular applicability to closing open ends of plastic bodies housing electronic components such as capacitors while the bodies and components are immersed in a bath of liquid material. In the event the electronic component is a paper type capacitor, the bath is a liquid material such as oil or wax-oil compounds having a high dielectric constant. Preferably, the open ends of the plastic bodies are closed by ultrasonically welding plastic material to the plastic bodies to close the open ends of the bodies while the bodies and their cooperatively associated electronic components are immersed in the liquid bath.

Electronic component and method

An apparatus for forming an electrically insulating semi-cured or cured in situ polymer containing material over a surface of an electrode can of an electrical device. The apparatus includes an applicator forming a film of curable polymer containing material over the can and means semi-curing or curing in situ the film to form an electrically insulating semi-cured or cured polymer containing material over the surface of the electrode can. The film is formed by contacting a surface of the electrode can with curable polymer containing material dispensed from the applicator and moving the surface of the electrode can contacted with the material over the applicator to distribute the curable polymer containing material over the surface of the electrode can as a film.
