A method of securing a fuel injector seal assembly includes placing a fuel nozzle within a bore of a seal, and selectively limiting withdrawal of the fuel nozzle from the bore based on the circumferential position of the fuel nozzle relative to the bore.

Spraybar face seal retention arrangement

An example turbomachine assembly includes a plurality of fuel spraybars spaced about a turbine exhaust inner case of the turbomachine. At least one fuel injector assembly is associated with each of the fuel spraybars. The at least one fuel injector assembly may include a fuel nozzle having a fuel delivery conduit. The at least one fuel injector assembly includes a seal member that is biased away from the fuel nozzle in a direction. The fuel nozzle is configured to limit movement of the seal member in the direction.

A fluid coupling assembly has a single fluid connection, including a plate and at least a pair of nipples extending away from the plate in a first direction, and at least a pair of connection pipes connected to each of the nipples extending from the plate in a second opposed direction. The nipples include a thread at an outer periphery, a ramped surface spaced in a direction beyond the thread and towards the plate, and a ditch beyond the ramped surface. A fluid coupling has a thread at an inner periphery received on the thread on the nipple, and the coupling has a plurality of circumferentially spaced fingers spaced by grooves, with the fingers being snapped into the ditch and is biased against the ramped surface. The plate, at least a pair of nipples and at least a pair of connection pipes are all formed of an integral piece of metal.

Coupling with one-piece plural nipples

A seal assembly for use in an engine, such as a scramjet engine, having a movable element, such as inlet cowl flap, is provided. The movable element has an outboard structural member which requires thermal protection. The seal assembly includes a sealing element and a support block for thermally isolating the outboard structural member and for supporting the sealing element. In a preferred embodiment, the sealing element comprises a rope seal having a tadpole construction.

High temperature dynamic seal for scramjet variable geometry

A cooling system for use in an engine having an element to be cooled includes at least one cooling channel on a first side of the element, at least one cooling channel on a second side of the element, and the at least one cooling channel on the first side communicating with the at least one channel on the second side in a nose region of the element so as to form a cooling circuit. The cooling system has particular utility in cooling interior and exterior surfaces of a movable cowl inlet flap used in a scramjet engine.

Cooling scheme for scramjet variable geometry hardware

The present invention relates to a heat exchanger panel which has broad utility in high temperature environments. The heat exchanger panel has a first panel, a second panel, and at least one fluid containment device positioned intermediate the first and second panels. At least one of the first panel and the second panel have at least one feature on an interior surface to accommodate the at least one fluid containment device. In a preferred embodiment, each of the first and second panels is formed from a high conductivity, high temperature composite material. Also, in a preferred embodiment, the first and second panels are joined together by one or more composite fasteners.

Heat exchanger panel

A fastener for securing a composite panel to a noncomposite support includes a composite stud with a notched shank , and a collar with an axis and circumferentially extending ribs . When assembled, the ribs and notches engage each other to resist axial translation between the stud and the collar. In one embodiment, a spring urges the rib into contact with the notch to tension the stud and clamp the panel to its support. In a second embodiment, the collar has external threads. A nut engages the threads to tension the stud and clamp the panel to its support. The spring is optional in the second embodiment. Because the composite stud is susceptible to damage if exposed to excessive torque, both embodiments include features to minimize torque transfer to the stud during assembly and disassembly.
