Animal repellant composition

A scouring pad is formed by disposing layers of a thermoplastic resin above and below a layer of metal wool. The resin and metal are compressed and heated to a temperature above the melting point of the resin. The resulting pad has mat-like upper and lower layers of metal fiber and resin, and an interior layer of metal fibers which is substantially free of the resin. The pad has a reduced tendency to shed metal fibers.

Disclosed is a fastening apparatus for fastening a gang of edge-connected but separable twist ties to a surface. The apparatus includes a material having a first adhesive coated portion secured to the gang of ties and a second adhesive coated portion for securing the gang of ties to the surface. Disclosed is a plastic bag, particularly suitable for sandwiches, comprising front and back side walls interconnected to one another at their side and bottom edges and defining between them a top opening which is closable by a fold-over cuff provided adjacent the top opening at the front of the bag. A tuck-in cuff is formed along a portion of the back wall and has a bottom opening permitting insertion of the user's fingers therein to facilitate the tucking in of the tuck-in cuff over an object in the bag prior to folding over the fold-over cuff to close the bag opening.

A clean, substantially smokeless, non-volatile, normally solid product for the ignition of fires, such as charcoal or wood fires, for cooking, campsites, home fireplaces, and so forth. The device comprises a shaped intimate mixture of a wax (e.g. hydrocarbon) and a combustible cellulosic material in particulate form associated with a lighting means of combustible material, said mixture comprising the wax in major proportion by weight, based on the weight of the wax and the cellulosic material.

Smokeless fire kindling device

There is disclosed herein a clean burning, non-volatile device useful for the ignition of fires in combustible medium such as charcoal briquettes. The device comprises a core composed of wax and cellulosic particles (e.g. sawdust), together with an adjacent absorbant material to take up any oily exudate from the core. The core and absorbant material, with an optional lighter strip for conveying a flame to the core, are enclosed in a flammable, oil impervious container. In use, the device is placed on the combustible medium and the container ignited. The flame is conveyed to the core composition of the device, which in turn burns with sufficient vigor and for a sufficient length of time to kindle a fire in the combustible medium.

There is provided a stable paste comprising a diethanolamide of a fatty acid having 12-16 carbon atoms, sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, and water. In another embodiment, this paste is admixed with a paste of the diethanolamide, sodium chloride, and a saturated solution of sodium chloride. Both formulations can be used full strength for scrubbing stubborn stains, scuff marks and the like and diluted for cleaning surfaces, such as floors and walls.

Laminates of two or more low density polyethylene films are prepared by blocking together superimposed films at a temperature below the fusion temperature, whereby the films can be pealed apart without distortion. The laminates are adapted for the manufacture of heavy duty bags and sacks having increased impact and tear resistance, as compared with single films or fused together laminates having the same gauge.

Upon extrusion, the extrusion die is formed with small notches with rounded corners so that the ribs are extruded while the film material is extruded, and provide additional material in the region of the ribs which merges smoothly with the material being extruded to form the film. Such rib-reinforced bag structures may be produced by forming a continuous roll of such bags, the individual bags in such a roll being readily separated along predetermined lines of weakness.

Reinforced thin wall plastic bag

There is provided a laminate of at lest two thermoplastic films which has a plurality of embossed parallel ribs running in at least one direction, said films being blocked together at spaced apart spots along each rib. Such laminate is prepared by passing at least two thermoplastic films in a superimposed and contacting engagement with one another through the nip of a pair of rollers. One roller is provided with a plurality of parallel raised ribs running in one direction and the other roller is provided with a plurality of parallel raised ribs which run in a direction angled to the direction of the ribs on the first roller. At the locations where the ribs on each roller cross at the nip, the films in the laminate are blocked together but otherwise remain unattached. Such laminates have exceptionally high tear strength and added stiffness and are adapted for various uses, including heavy duty bags and grocery sacks.

Spot blocked thermoplastic film laminate

A thermoplastic bag comprising a front wall and a rear wall. The upper edge of said rear wall is turned inwardly and the resultant downwardly facing pouch is sealed along its edges to the upper edges of the rear bag walls. The upper portion of the front bag wall has an adhesive stripe extending across the width thereof. The adhesive stripe is protected from direct contact with the pouch on the opposite wall, until it is desired to close and seal the bag, by means of a strip of release paper covering the adhesive or, alternatively, by folding a portion of the front bag wall back upon itself to cover the adhesive stripe.
