A device having a display and a user interface incorporating buttons, switches or keys that may be programmable for various functions related to the purpose of the device and its display. The keys may be programmed for virtually any functions available to or on the device. Also, some or all of the keys may be reprogrammed for other or new functions. The device may be programmed by the user with the keys on the device to obtain a custom design having functions assigned to the keys according to a particular design, desire or choice of the user. The keys may be situated on an area having touch sensitive technology such that touching a particular key will call forth a function that is assigned to the key. The keys may be in a touch sensitive area apart from the display or be fully or in partly on a touch sensitive display.

Customizable user interface

A wall module for controlling a temperature in a building space includes a housing and a temperature sensor disposed within the housing. A touch screen display is mounted relative to the housing and a controller is configured to control what is displayed on the touch screen display and to accept inputs received via the touch screen display. A communication port is operatively coupled to the controller for communicating with an HVAC controller that is remote from the wall module. The controller is configured to permit a user to alter a display arrangement of information displayed on the touch screen display, and to transmit the altered display arrangement to the HVAC controller such that the HVAC controller can subsequently provide the altered display arrangement back to the wall module and/or share the altered display arrangement with other wall modules.

Wall module display modification and sharing

The invention is a system for selecting and previewing a configuration for a wall module before a download of the configuration to the wall module. The configuration may be selected from a set of standard applications or it may be a customized standard application. The configuration may instead be a new application. The configuration may be changed, such as screen segment selection, during a preview of it. A memory usage meter may indicate how much memory is used relative to the amount available in the wall module for the configuration. Also the system may have an autobind to a controller feature for time parameters. New application or customized standard application configurations may be saved to a library for future use.

A wall module for use with a building control system is customizable for a particular application though the selection of different overlays, displays, and/or expansion modules. The selected overlay and the display, when provided, together may form the user interface of the desired wall module configuration. The expansion module may be selected to provide additional desired functionality. Different overlays, displays and/or expansion modules may be selected for different wall modules within a building control system.

Modular wall module platform for a building control system

A configurable wall module having selectable home screens, custom menu navigation, and incorporating functional design. The display utilizes fixed segments. menu navigation and configuration which may be facilitated with soft keys having indicative labels associated with them. The parameters may be accessed from categories by soft keys via two-level menu navigation. Certain parameter value and setpoint entries may be effected with up/down keys. Module configuration may be performed by a user. To provide such user capability, the module may be programmed and configured by an installer with a software configuration tool used in connection with the building automation system associated with the module.

A system and approach for defining labels for values, such as ordinal numbers, of enumerated parameters in a wall module. Label and number pairs may be downloaded to a wall module as part of definitions of the parameters. The wall module may be a source of a list of labels to a user and then set each parameter to a value associated with a label selected by the user.

An HVAC sensor assembly for sensor deployment within an HVAC air passage defined by passage walls is provided. In some instances, the HVAC sensor assembly includes a base mountable to a passage wall of an HVAC air passage, and a support member attached to and extending out from the base and configured to project into the HVAC air passage. The HVAC sensor assembly may include one or more HVAC sensors secured to the support member such that the one or more HVAC sensors are positionable and then maintainable at a field configurable distance from the base.

Control module

Systems and methods for using a wireless sensor in conjunction with a host controller are described. An illustrative system can include a host controller, a wireless sensor device, and a decoder in communication with the wireless sensor device and the host controller. The host controller may include a remote sensor input that normally would be connected to a wired remote sensor having an expected sensor characteristic. The decoder may receive a wireless signal from the wireless sensor device, and may provide an output signal to the remote sensor input of the host controller that replicate or mimic signals that would be provided by a wired remote sensor having the expected sensor characteristic.

System and methods for using a wireless sensor in conjunction with a host controller

A sensor and alarm system having a power-on sequence. The system has a power supply permanently-like connected to a power line of a facility. There may be a power interrupt to the power supply, which may initiate a power-on sequence of alarms. The sequence of alarms may indicate whether the system is wired properly and operating normally. If the sequence does not occur in a pattern as expected, then there may be a problem with the system. Also, the sensor portion of the system may set off an alarm pattern if a sensed gas has a concentration greater than a first magnitude. The system may set off another alarm pattern if a sensed gas has a concentration greater than a second magnitude. If a sensing element of the sensor portion goes out of calibration, then the system may set off still another alarm pattern.
