An OLED device comprises a cathode, an anode, and has therebetween a light emitting layer (LEL) comprising a phosphorescent emitting compound disposed in a host comprising a mixture of at least one electron transporting co-host which is a benzophenone derivative with a spiro substituent and at least one hole transporting co-host which is a triphenylamine which contains one trivalent nitrogen atom that is bonded only to carbon atoms, at least one of which is a member of an aromatic ring, wherein there is present an electron transporting layer contiguous to the LEL (HBL?) on the cathode side comprising an anthracene or a fluoranthene and wherein there is present an election injecting layer comprising a phenanthroline or a lithium quinolate contiguous to the cathode.

The invention provides an OLED device containing certain alkali metal cluster compounds with mixed ligands, such compounds, and methods of making them. In particular, the cluster compound is a neutrally charged mixed cluster compound comprising first and second subunits with the first subunit comprising an alkali metal salt of a nitrogen containing a heterocyclic ligand bearing a anionic hydroxy group and the second subunit consisting of an organic alkali metal salt different than the first subunit.

Tandem white OLED with efficient electron transfer

The present invention relates to an OLED device including a cathode, an anode, and having therebetween a light-emitting layer, further including, between the cathode and the light emitting layer, a first layer containing a fluoranthene-macrocyclic compound. The fluoranthene-macrocyclic compound includes a fluoranthene nucleus having the 7,10-positions connected by a linking group. The fluoranthene nucleus can be further substituted, provided substituents in the 8- and 9-positions cannot combine to form a five-membered ring group. The OLED device includes at least one layer, between the light-emitting layer and the cathode, containing an alkali metal material. It provides improvement in features such as efficiency and drive voltage.

An OLED device comprising a cathode, an anode, and having there between a red light emitting layer containing a non-light-emitting fluoranthene compound with a 7,10-diaryl substituted fluoranthene nucleus having no aromatic rings annulated to the fluoranthene nucleus, and a red light-emitting phosphorescent dopant. The invention provides an OLED device including a cathode, an anode, and having there between a light-emitting layer, further including, between the cathode and the light emitting layer, a first layer containing a fluoranthene compound including one and only one fluoranthene nucleus and having no aromatic rings annulated to the fluoranthene nucleus, the fluoranthene nucleus having independently selected aromatic groups in the 7,10-positions and an azine group in the 8- or 9-position, provided that the azine group is not a phenanthroline group. The OLED device desirably includes a second layer containing an alkali metal or alkali metal compound, located between the cathode and the first layer. The OLED device can also include a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon compound in the first layer or in a third layer located between the first layer and the light-emitting layer. Devices of the invention provide improvement in features such as efficiency and drive voltage.

OLED device with fluoranthene electron injection materials

The invention provides an OLED device comprising a cathode, an anode, and having there between a light-emitting layer, further comprising, between the cathode and the light emitting layer, a non-luminescent electron transporting layer containing a compound with a 7,10-diaryl substituted fluoranthene nucleus having no aromatic rings annulated to the fluoranthene nucleus and desirably comprises still further an additional layer containing an organic alkali metal compound, located between the cathode and the electron transporting layer. Devices of the invention provide improvement in features such as efficiency, drive voltage, and operational stability.
