The present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs) such as, aspirin, diclofenac, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, or naproxen, or any pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates, or prodrugs thereof, and the medical use of these compositions. The compositions, which can be formulated for topical administration, can provide extended release of the NSAIDs. The compositions of the invention are useful, for example, in the prophylactic treatment or treatment and/or reduction of pain, in the prophylactic treatment or treatment of headaches such as migraine headaches and symptoms of migraine headaches, and in the treatment of temporomandibular disorders (TMD).

Methods and compositions for treating migraine and conditions associated with pain

A mobility assessment detects abnormalities in motion using a stagger algorithm. The detected abnormalities are compared to known norms for a particular test to determine if the abnormalities are normal or not. The comparison can be made for abnormalities associated with different diseases and illnesses to classify whether or not the condition exists and its phase. The results may be used to generate a treatment regime.

Assessment of medical conditions by determining mobility

A mechanical stapling device for fastening deep tissue during the closing of peritoneal side of a stab wound, which is associated with a laparoscopic surgical procedure, is provided. Stapling device for closure of deep tissue

A manually operated fastener driving device including first and second arm assemblies, each of the arm assemblies having a distal portion and a proximal portion, the proximal portion of the first arm assembly being pivotally coupled to the proximal portion of the second arm assembly; a fastener capsule associated with the first arm assembly and being constructed and arranged at the distal portion thereof so as to be movable between an inoperative position and an operative position; a plurality of fasteners carried by the first arm assembly, each fastener being constructed and arranged to be individually received within the fastener capsule, the first arm assembly including a first actuator constructed and arranged to move the fastener capsule from its inoperative position to its operative position; a plurality of fastener receptacles carried by the second arm assembly, a leading receptacle of the plurality of receptacles being selectively disposed to receive and engage a fastener; and a handle assembly coupled to the proximal portions of the first and second arm assemblies, the handle assembly being cooperable with the first actuator such that manual actuation of the handle assembly (1) moves the fastener capsule with a fastener therein from its inoperative position to its operative position and (2) moves the distal portions of the first and second arm assemblies towards each other so as to retain the fastener within the leading receptacle.

Tissue fastening device

An endoscopic, suture element delivery device is provided including an elongated arm assembly having proximal and distal ends. A series of successive suture elements and a series of successive receptacle elements are carried by the arm assembly. A suture delivery structure is mounted with respect to the housing assembly for movement between a retracted position disposed within the housing assembly and an extended position extending from the housing assembly. The suture delivery structure is constructed and arranged to engage a forwardmost suture element. A receptacle delivery structure is mounted to a distal end of the housing assembly and is movable between receptacle loading and unloading positions. The receptacle delivery structure is constructed and arranged to engage a forwardmost receptacle element. An actuating structure is carried by the arm assembly and is constructed and arranged to move the suture delivery structure between its retracted and extended positions and the receptacle delivery structure between its loading and unloading positions. A handle structure is coupled to the proximal end of the arm assembly and is operatively coupled to the actuating structure for moving the actuating structure.

Suture element delivery device and method

A method of securing human nasal tissue includes the steps of providing a fastener driving device including at least one arm member sized and configured to be inserted into a nasal passage; inserting the at least one arm member into a nasal passage; driving a fastener at least partially through the nasal tissue with the at least one arm member; and withdrawing the at least one arm member from the nasal passage leaving the fastener in securement with the nasal tissue.

Intranasal septal fastener driving method

A stapling device includes first and second arms, each arm having a distal portion, a central portion and proximal portion; a stapler head rotatably coupled to a free end of the distal portion of the second arm. The stapler head has a first, inoperative position and a second operative position. The device includes a member for moving the stapler head from the inoperative position to the operative position, and elements for pivotally coupling the central portion of the first arm to the central portion of the second arm. The stapling device further includes first and second handle elements each pivotally coupled to each other and to the proximal portions of the first and second arms and operatively coupled to the moving member so that initial displacement of the handle elements from an inoperative position towards each other moves the distal portions of the first and second arms towards each other and actuates the moving member to move the stapler head from the inoperative position to the operative position. Further displacement of the handle elements displaces the second arm to bring the stapler head and the first arm into contact with tissue structure to be stapled. Release of the handle elements allows the moving member to return the stapler head to the inoperative position.

Intranasal septal stapling device

A process for economical air drying of aqueous sludge, and a vehicle which may be used in practicing such process. The surface of a pool of sludge, such as in a sludge lagoon, is systematically agitated to break up the dry crust and to bring wet sludge to the surface for more rapid removal of water by evaporation and to form a dry upper layer of substantial thickness. The drier surface material is skimmed off the surface and either harvested directly or shifted laterally to provide an inclined surface on the lagoon so as to facilitate drainage of surface water, such as from precipitation. The dry surface sludge is harvested from the lagoon either after systematic shifting of the dry surface sludge to one side of the lagoon, or by transporting of the dry sludge through a conduit to the side of the lagoon, or by loading of the sludge into a receptacle of a stirring/harvesting vehicle for periodic delivery to the side of the lagoon. The vehicle which may be employed in practicing this process is provided with buoyant propelling wheels which penetrate the sludge but are sufficiently buoyant to support the rest of the vehicle above the surface of the lagoon, and mechanism for shifting or harvesting the sludge is mounted on the forward end of the vehicle. In supporting the vehicle and propelling it across the lagoon, the wheels effectuate agitation of the sludge in the lagoon.

Sludge dewatering process and vehicle for use in such process

A hydraulic screw pump is provided having a rotatable screw which may comprise a helical blade disposed within an enclosed full or open half cylinder. In half-cylindrical constructions the helical blade rotates relative to a half cylinder which may be formed of concrete. The enclosed screw pumps may have the helical blades welded to the inner periphery of a surrounding metal cylinder so as to rotate therewith, or be welded to said surrounding metal cylinder and also to an inner cylinder which provides axial reinforcement. In all of the foregoing pump embodiments the improvement of this invention may be utilized to provide increased pump capacity by the novel expedient of flaring the pump discharge end so as to increase the critical depth and critical flow area in said discharge end thus increasing the possible maximum rate of liquid discharge.

An improved basketball court and method for use by different forms or classes of players wherein a conventional basketball court has designated thereon a central court area used by one form and a peripheral court area designated for use by the second form wherein each of two teams have members of both forms on said teams such that the members of the two forms on one team play together in a cooperative manner, and the members of each form play on a team play against members of that form on the opposite team.
