Mitigating interference in 5G new radio systems may include establishing a path loss range associated with a satellite earth station, and receiving a path loss value associated with a mobile device. The method further includes determining whether the path loss value is within the path loss range, and sending a message to the mobile device to change an operation of the mobile device in response to determining that the path loss value is within the path loss range.

Mitigating interference in radio systems

A user device receives system information block data from a cell. The user device obtains, from the system information block data, cell metadata that includes a cellular parameter. The user device parses the cell metadata to identify the cellular parameter. The cellular parameter includes an upper layer indicator element, a public land mobile network (PLMN) information list element, and a network capability indicator element. The user device determines, based on the cellular parameter, that the cell is of a particular cell type of a plurality of cell types, and that the cell has a particular capability of a plurality of types of capabilities. The user device performs an action based on the particular cell type or the particular capability.

Systems and methods for identifying a cell type and cell communication capabilities from cellular broadcast data

A system may be configured to determine radio frequency ('RF') transmission error types associated with a group of channels. Each channel may be associated with a particular remote radio node ('RRN'), of a group of RRNs, and a user device. The system may further modify subsequent RF communications between the RRNs and the user device, on a per-channel basis, and based on the determined transmission error types associated with each channel.

Centralized channel coding and shaping for a multi-node RAN

A base station includes an antenna to receive a first frequency band associated with first signals carrying machine-to-machine (M2M) data, and a second frequency band associated with second signals carrying user equipment (UE) data; a radio frequency interface to connect to the antenna, and configured to receive the first signals and the second signals; at least one digital front end to generate, based on the first signals, first time-aligned symbols, generate, based on the second signals, second time-aligned symbols, store the first time-aligned symbols at a first portion of a buffer, and store the second time-aligned symbols at a second portion of the buffer; and a processor to convert, based on contents stored at the first portion of the buffer, the first time-aligned symbols into the M2M data, and convert, based on contents stored at the second portion of the buffer, the second time-aligned symbols into the UE data.

Network sharing scheme for machine-to-machine (M2M) network

Techniques described herein may be used to manage a wireless telecommunications network that is subject to carrier restrictions. In a handover procedure, a source base station may assign an alternative primary carrier to a user device if the current primary carrier (or a secondary carrier thereof) is prohibited by a target base station. An unpaired downlink carrier may be aggregated to the alternative primary carrier as a supplemental downlink (SDL) carrier. New primary carriers may be created by joining unpaired downlink carriers with unpaired uplink carriers. New primary carriers may include a high frequency downlink carrier and a low frequency uplink carrier. New primary carriers may be allocated to wireless devices within a coverage area based on device type and/or a signal propagation quality of each wireless device.

Managing carrier restrictions in a wireless network

A base station may establish a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a first user device. The base station may determine a bearer attribute of a bearer associated with the RRC connection and the first user device. The base station may determine that the bearer attribute satisfies a set of conditions, and may analyze multiple bearer attributes associated with multiple established RRC connections. The base station may select a terminable RRC connection, of the multiple established RRC connections, based on analyzing the multiple bearer attributes. The terminable RRC connection may be associated with a second user device that is different from the first user device, and the terminable RRC connection may be different from the RRC connection. The device may terminate the terminable RRC connection based on selecting the terminable RRC connection.

Managing radio resource control (RRC) connections based on radio bearer attributes

A mobile device may obtain wireless network connectivity from a local telecommunications provider by replacing a card in a mobile device associated with the user. In one implementation, a method may include receiving identification information relating to a mobile device; determining, based on the identification information, that the mobile device is compatible with a wireless network; transmitting, based on the determination that the mobile device is compatible with the wireless network, a Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) client application to the mobile device, the VoLTE client application providing functionality, for the mobile device, relating to usage of VoLTE services in the wireless network; and communicating, with the mobile device and the VoLTE client application, to provide one or more VoLTE services to the mobile device.

Installation of a voice client for roaming devices in a wireless network

A base station includes an antenna to receive frequency bands that include a first band associated with first signals carrying machine-two-machine (M2M) data and a second band associated with second signals carrying user equipment (UE) data. The base station further includes a baseband unit (BBU) that includes: a radio frequency (RF) interface configured to receive the first signals and the second signals, a digital front end (DFE) configured to generate first symbols based on the first signals and second symbols based on the second signals, a symbol processor configured to convert the first symbols into the M2M data and the second symbols into the UE data, and one or more processors configured to forward the M2M data to a first device and the UE data to a second device that differs from the first device.

A video on demand (VoD) network architecture implements a gateway that provides both satellite-based communications and radio frequency-based communications. The gateway may receive a content request from a video client and determine whether the content request corresponds to a content delivery network (CDN). When the content request corresponds to the CDN, the gateway may install a VoD access point name (APN) route designated for VoD traffic between the video client and the CDN, and communicate the content request to the CDN via the VoD APN route. The VoD APN route may include a VoD APN of a wireless wide area network (WWAN) connected to the gateway via an air interface. When the content request does not correspond to the CDN, the gateway may communicate the content request via an Internet APN route.

Video on demand architecture

A device may receive a request for an electronic program guide from a user device and determine a location of the user device. The device may determine, based on the determining that the user device is located in a first location, a group of different types of networks available to the user device and may provide, based on the determined group of different types of networks available to the user device, the electronic program guide for display. The electronic program guide may include a network identifier for each of one or more available channels associated with each of the determined group of different types of networks, and a content identifier associated with a respective one of the one or more available channels associated with each of the determined group of different types of networks.

A server device may be configured to determine a first measure of throughput associated with a cellular wireless network, determine a second measure of throughput associated with a wireless local area network ('WLAN'), compare the first measure of throughput to the second measure of throughput; select, based on the comparing, a particular one of the cellular wireless network or the WLAN, and send an instruction to a user device that is in range of the cellular wireless network and the WLAN, the instruction instructing the user device to connect to the particular selected wireless network.

Dynamic load balancing based on network performance

A first network device receives an authentication request, from a second network device, to authenticate a user device and a first over-the-top application, stored on the user device, to determine whether to apply a level of quality of service to the first over-the-top application. The first network device authenticates the user device, based on the authentication requested. The first network device authenticates the first over-the-top application, based on the authentication request. The first network device sends an authentication result, based on the authentication of the user device and the first over-the-top application, to the second network device; and the second network device initiates, based on the authentication result, a process to apply a level of quality of service to information sent between the first over-the-top application and a provider associated with the first over-the-top application.

A system may receive a connection request, from a user device, that includes information identifying a particular application; identify that the particular application is associated with a group of classes of traffic; establish a group of bearer channels that are associated with the group of classes of traffic, the group of bearer channels being associated with a group of different levels of quality of service ('QoS'); process, via a first bearer channel and according to a first level of QoS, first traffic associated with the user device and the particular application; and process, via a second bearer channel of the group of bearer channels, according to a second level of QoS, second traffic associated with the user device and the particular application, the second bearer channel being different from the first bearer channel, and the second level of QoS being different from the first level of QoS.

Quality of service treatement for applications with multiple traffic classes

Video content may be delivered in a wireless network based on network load information relating to radio interfaces for the wireless network. A method may include receiving a request, from a set-top box, for video content from the set-top box to the wireless network and determining, based on the load information, whether a portion of the wireless network corresponding to the set-top box is in a first state or a second state. The network may further include transmitting the video content when the portion of the network corresponding to the set-top box is in the first state and delaying transmission of the video content when the portion of the network corresponding to the set-top box is in the second state, until the portion of the network corresponding to the set-top box enters the first state.
