Various forms of skin irritations are treated with an appropriately configured and sized pad provided with a chilled skim milk additive which is useful for treating skin irritations such as diaper rash, irritations caused by incontinence, breast irritations experienced by nursing mothers, hemorrhoidal irritation, and skin irritations resulting from burns, insect bites, and the like. The irritated skin can be treated by applying the pad directly to the irritated skin. The treatment can continue during normal daily activities in various ways. The pad can take the form of breast pads that can be worn inside of a nursing bra, or it can take the form of an adhesive strip that can be adhered to the skin at the affected site. For treating diaper rash or incontinence-caused irritations, the pad can be placed in diapers or in suitable incontinence undergarments.

Method for treating skin irritations such as diaper rash and the like

A mini pad is provided with a chilled skim milk additive which is useful for reducing vulvar inflammation and lowering the acidity of a female's vulva which result from vaginal secretions which leak onto the tissue of the vulva. The mini pad can be provided with a self-contained cooling component which can be frozen or, when compressed and ruptured, will lower the temperature of the mini pad to provide the soothing cold. The skim milk can be incorporated into the mini pad in several different ways. The mini pad is useful for soothing and healing vulvar irritation, and it is mobile and can be easily used during normal daily activities without any problems whatsoever.

An aerosol dispenser utilizes a vertical container filled with a pressurized liquid. An actuator which has a nozzle is positioned on the valve stem which is located on the top of the container. The actuator when pressed vertically or horizontally allows a jet flow of liquid to spray from the nozzle. The dispenser is provided with apparatus for preventing formation of a residual liquid film after termination of the jet flow spray which would otherwise clog the nozzle.

A unitarily constructed toothbrush is provided including a head with bristles unitarily molded therewith, a handle and a neck, all being formed of an identical plastic material. Dispersed throughout the plastic material is at least one anti-microbial active compound such as a halogenated hydrocarbon, a quaternary ammonium salt or combinations thereof. Preferably the plastic material is a low density polyethylene. Toothbrushes of the present invention inhibit the growth of bacteria and other micro-organisms thereby avoiding the possibility of infecting oral gums.

A swab is described formed of a paper stick having opposite ends of less paper density than the rest of the stick. An absorbent covering such as cotton is placed around the ends. The stick is obtained by rolling a paper having left and right edges harmonically cut with at least two amplitude maxima and at least one amplitude minima. Softer stick ends are achieved through this structural arrangement. A cut paper used for forming the swab stick and a manufacturing process are also described.

A toothbrush is provided that includes a handle formed with an elongated cavity and a mouth opening at a terminus thereof. At least two stems consisting of a bar and a brushhead are hingedly supported at a first end of each bar within the elongated cavity. The toothbrush enables a user despite incorrect stroking to convert lateral motion into a corrected up and down movement of the bristles.

A synergistic moisturizing effect can be obtained in skin treating, e.g., cosmetic, formulations utilizing a combination of glycerol and diglycerol.

This invention relates to novel antimicrobial systems containing a water-soluble, non-ionic pyrethione derivative known chemically as the magnesium sulfate adduct of 2,2'-dithiobis-pyridine-1,1'-dioxide (referred to hereinafter as 'the magnesium sulfate adduct') and a water soluble zinc salt. The antimicrobial systems of this invention may be incorporated in various useful therapeutic and cleansing compositions such, for example, as surgical scrub compositions, skin disinfectants, mouthwashes, deodorants, hospital cleaners, etc.
