Cooling manifold

An apparatus comprising a rack having a row of shelves, each shelf supporting an electronics circuit board, each one of the circuit boards being manually removable from the shelve supporting the one of the circuit boards and having a local heat source thereon. The apparatus also comprises a cooler attached to the rack and being able to circulate a cooling fluid around a channel forming a closed loop. The apparatus further comprises a plurality of heat conduits, each heat conduit being located over a corresponding one of the circuit boards and forming a path to transport heat from the local heat source of the corresponding one of the circuit boards to the cooler. Each heat conduit is configured to be manually detachable from the cooler or the circuit board, without breaking a circulation pathway of the fluid through the cooler.

An apparatus, method and system are provided for a modular in-frame pumped refrigerant distribution system. Specifically, a micro-channel heat exchanger is positioned in an equipment cabinet close to equipment that generates heat. More specifically, the micro-channel heat exchanger may be positioned on a) a shelf above the equipment, b) the back side of the equipment, or c) a shelf below the equipment. The micro-channel heat exchanger is operable to receive a refrigerant supplied by an external heat exchanger along a primary flow path, transfer heat from air above and/or near the equipment to a coil of the micro-channel heat exchanger, circulate the refrigerant to extract the heat, and return the refrigerant with an extracted portion of generated heat to the external heat exchanger along a secondary flow path. The external heat exchanger may remove extracted heat from a building via a building chilled water system or an outdoor condenser unit.

Modular in-frame pumped refrigerant distribution and heat removal system

An alarming apparatus and methods for use with an air filter are disclosed herein. A filament can be stretched across a portion or section of an air filter frame, wherein the portion or section comprises a first locus and a second locus located diagonally opposite the first locus. The filament can be attached at a first end of the filament to the air filter frame at the first locus. A micro-switch can be attached to a second end of the filament at the second locus. Additionally, an alarm can communicate through a communications device (wired and/or wireless) with the micro-switch, such that when the air filter becomes loaded with debris, the air filter deflects thereby causing a force to be exerted on the filament, which in turn triggers the micro-switch to transmit a signal to the alarm indicating that the air filter requires proper attention thereof. The filament can be stretched facing either an upstream or a downstream side of airflow thereof.

Switch frame electronic air filter alarming device

An apparatus for detecting blockage of a porous medium of an air filter utilized to filter air within a forced air stream contained within an enclosure. The air filter extends in a direction transverse to a direction of the forced air stream. The detection is accomplished with an opening in the porous medium of a greater dimension than provided by the porous medium. The opening is defined by the porous medium of the air filter and extends through the porous medium through which airflow from the forced air stream passes. A flexible member is provided which is positioned within the air flow from the forced air stream which passes through the opening and received by the flexible member causing the flexible member to vibrate and emit an audible sound in response to the air flow. Additionally, a method is provided for detecting blockage of the porous medium of the air filter including the steps of providing an opening in the porous medium; selecting a flexible member in which the flexible member vibrates emitting a desired audible sound with the flexible member positioned to receive a flow of air at a particular velocity; and positioning at least a portion of the flexible member in communication with the opening in the porous medium to receive the air flow from the forced air stream.

The present invention provides for an apparatus for removal of thermal energy emitted from at least one electrical component positioned on a circuit board, in which a forced air stream is provided in a direction to flow over the circuit board and toward the at the least one electrical component which includes a rod having an elongated dimension in which the elongated dimension is positioned transverse to the direction of the forced air stream, upstream from the at least one electrical component and spaced apart from a plane defined by the circuit board. The present invention provides for a method for removal of thermal energy emitted from at least one electrical component positioned on a circuit board in which a forced air stream is provided and directed to flow over the circuit board and toward the at least one electrical component which includes the step of providing a rod having an elongated dimension and positioning the rod in the forced air stream with the elongated dimension transverse to the direction of the forced air stream, upstream to the at least one electrical component and spaced apart from a plane defined by the circuit board.

Enhanced thermal dissipation device for circuit boards and method to use the same

A device for dissipating thermal energy generated by an electrical circuit component to an air stream having a body which defines a first opening for receiving the air stream, a channel opening which communicates with the first opening and receives the air stream, in which the channel opening is reduced in dimension at a position downstream from the first opening providing an accelerated movement of the air stream, and a second opening which communicates with and is positioned downstream from the channel opening for discharging the air stream from the body. The body is secured in a position relative to the electrical circuit component enabling the accelerated air stream to communicate with the thermal energy generated by the electrical circuit component.

Device and method for dissipating thermal energy of electronic circuit

A portable thermal testing system includes a portable thermal chamber box for attaching to a stationary object. A tested device is inserted through an aperture in the portable thermal chamber box and sealed from the external environment via sliding doors. Temperature-controlled air is circulated through the portable thermal chamber box and a baffle provides equal distribution of the air over the tested device. An aperture is provided for attaching a test probe to the device under test.
