An Achilles tendon repair that provides a minimally invasive surgical procedure that requires at least two medical devices comprising: at least one fascial elevator separator and at least one suture passer elevator separator with a paddle guide that assist with repair of Achilles tendons wherein a fascial elevator separator paddle guide that has a U-shaped portion at a distal end provides separation of a Paratenon from an Achilles tendon and also provides a surgical plane along a designated length of the Achilles tendon that eliminates a possibility of damage to either the Sural Nerve or Saphenous Vein. The suture passer elevator separator also provides for precise placement of multiple locking sutures along the medial and lateral free edge if the Achilles tendon which allows even tensioning of the surgical repair.

The apparatus consists of an upright tower-like base unit with a lower base section and a vertically extending armature with a hingably mounted lifting boom. The apparatus can be placed into an operational position in a minimal amount of time by lifting of the boom and deployment of the support legs. The boom would incorporate a lifting mechanism consisting of an electrically driven linear actuator, and/or a hydraulic or pneumatic piston. Deployment status might be verified by readouts on a centralized control panel or remote control unit. Wheels under the base unit might be controllably driven to aid in moving the lifting apparatus in either a stowed or deployed position. In a retracted state, the apparatus can be stored in a small area such as a closet having a footprint no larger than the size of the base unit. Portability is provided by wheels under the base unit and extended support legs.

The apparatus can be placed into an operating position in less than two minutes by extension of the support legs and lifting boom which are then locked into position by the use of over-center latches used on leg struts and a boom crutch. Extension is verified by the use of LED indicator lights located on a control panel providing operational sequences from a single location. Separate motors are provided for placement of the legs and boom as well a hoist motor for operating a hoist and a swing motor for angular placement of the boom unit. In a retracted state the apparatus can be stored in a small area such as a closet having a footprint no larger than the size of the base frame. Portability is provided by lockable wheels positioned beneath the frame which can be used in conjunction with hand brakes for braking purposes.
