A recliner exerciser for simulating walking in which the user can adjust the degree on reclining as well as the amount of simulated walking and exercise his or her legs are subjected. A motorized gear box operates two moveable foot rests in varying degrees of incline to provide minor to aggressive walking simulation for the user.

A firearm safety system for the prevention of undesired or unauthorized discharge of a firearm by a person other than an authorized person. The safety system is made up of a computer chip which is implanted into the authorized user's anatomy for verification of the user. The information from the computer chip is received by a sensor connected to a firearm and the information processed by a processor. If the information received from the computer chip matches that of an authorized user, the firearm can be discharged by the authorized user.

A cap assembly for providing continuous drip to a faucet exposed to freezing temperatures such as a faucet located outside a house. The cap assembly includes a cap member adapted to be mounted over the end of a faucet, which cap member includes a cylindrical wall portion and a closed end portion having an opening therein. The cap assembly includes an internal annular ridge which is adapted to receive a flow disc within the ridge, which flow disc includes an opening which is non-aligned with the opening in the closed end portion of the cap in order to create a dripping action. A rubber washer is positioned in sealing engagement with the internal annular ridge and the flow disc. A filter member is located within the rubber washer such that, upon mounting of the cap assembly over the end portion of a faucet, a continuous dripping flow through the cap assembly may be provided in order to prevent water within the faucet or within piping leading to the faucet from freezing.

Apparatus for electrically, detachably attaching a monitor such as a glove monitor between a health care worker and a patient utilizing a particular magnetic, electrical connection so that the health care worker can easily connect and disconnect from electrical connection to the patient for movement about the room or elsewhere.

A rolling head putter that comprises a standard design putter head in conjunction with an axle and rotatable roller. The axle supports the roller and provides for free rotation of the roller in a direction orthogonal to the direction of the line of sight in the direction of the putt. The roller is mounted behind the leading edge of the putter and may have a resilient outer surface, and extends below the lower surface of the putter head such that the putter head rests on and glides across the ground surface on the roller. In a preferred embodiment, the axle and roller are contained within and bounded by a cavity that penetrates the putter head, such that the overall perimeter of the putter head is of similar size and shape to generally available standard putter heads.

A monitoring device for detecting adulteration of an article used in critical use applications such as a surgical glove where the gloves are worn by the surgeon and are exposed to the body fluids of a patient. The device includes the detection of a particular value of electrical condition, preferably resistance or impedance, as well as the first and second derivatives of electrical condition. These values are monitored in a substantially continuous manner and are smoothed and filtered to determine when a hole or thin spot in the glove occurs. In addition, the device includes an autoranging function which maintains the measured voltage in a prescribed range, thus allowing the device to operate at a higher level of accuracy for a greater period of time than a device without the feature. Also, the device warns the health care professional when the electrical properties of the gloves have degraded to a point where the device may no longer reliably detect holes in the gloves.

Enhanced monitoring device for surgical gloves and other barriers

An apparatus and method for detecting adulteration or a condition of near-adulteration of a glove used in critical use application such as in surgery where the gloves are worn by the surgeon and are exposed to the body fluids of a patient. The apparatus and method includes the detection not only of a particular level of conductivity which may be caused by a hole or thin spot in the glove but also the detection of a sudden change in conductivity which may be caused by a sudden change in the condition of the glove, such as the opening of a hole or a sudden thinning of the glove. In this manner, the apparatus and method provides detection not only for an actual condition of the glove but also for a change in condition of the glove. In addition, the circuit is a low impedance circuit, which automatically and continuously discharge static charge build-up on the surgeon.

A surgeon's operating stool 10 is provided which is readily movable when not occupied by a person but resists undesirable movement once a person has occupied the stool 10. The stool is provided with a series of rollers 20 which normally support the stool 10 and allow for movement in any desired direction. However, the rollers 20 include a spring loaded collapsible mechanism which, when occupied by a person, forces the rollers 20 to retract into the base 12 of the stool 10 and causes a nonskin surface 38 to engage the floor. The base 12 of the stool 10 is configured to receive the feet of a person using the stool, such that a person using the stool in either a standing or sitting position forces the retracting mechanism to remain retracted and thereby prevent undesirable movement during use. The stool 10 also includes a hydraulic height adjusting mechanism which is readily adjustable via foot operation. It is of particular importance in a sterile environment that a surgeon be capable of readily adjusting the stool 10 height without use of his sterilized hands. Further, a rotary coupling 28 interconnects a seat 26 and the support rod 22 of the stool 10 such that the seat 26 is free to rotate in a plane substantially parallel to the floor.

Method and apparatus for removing oil-based drilling mud from drill cuttings in order to prepare the drill cuttings for an environmentally safe disposal in the sea. A solvent in the range of solvents which may be condensed by ambient seawater and vaporized by heated internal combustion engine coolant is utilized in the process. The method of this invention includes the steps of transporting oil-based mud-laden cuttings to a solid feed tank wherein the oil-based cuttings are subjected to turbulent mixing to leave the surface of the cuttings substantially free of oil. The cuttings are then transported to a countercurrent flow column and subjected to countercurrent, laminar flow of solvent in order to separate oily solvent and fines smaller than a chosen diameter from the heavier solids. The heavier solids are cleaned of any remaining oil-based muds, separated from cleaning solvent and ultimately returned to the sea environment. The method includes the further step of treating the oil-based mud laden solvent for separation of remaining solvent for return of the solvent to the continuous process and for recycling of the recovered oil-based drilling mud into the drilling mud system.
