An interface/electronics module for reading information from a vehicle data bus and controlling functions available through the vehicle data bus. A graphical user interface is provided. The interface may include a stand-alone tablet computer or may be part of an integrated and permanently-mounted display. The interface/electronics module may include the functionality of the factory audio system (such as a radio tuner, power amplifier, etc.). In addition, the interface/electronics module is able to transmit commands via the vehicle's CAN bus.

Touchscreen-based vehicle control interface

A modular vehicle sound system that can be upgraded or reconfigured by changing a plug-in module. In the advanced-capability embodiments the invention combines the functions of a vehicle data bus interface, a digital signal processor, and an amplifier. In the advanced-capability embodiments the invention provides a wireless interface with a separate digital device that can be used to control the inventive amplifier.

Modular vehicle sound system

A headlamp illumination source that switches from a first configuration conforming to on-road illumination standards to a second configuration that does not conform to on-road illumination standards. The invention makes use of an inventory of prior art mounting kits that are configured to mount standardized aftermarket stereo head units in a vehicle dash while smoothly blending the aftermarket head unit into the surrounding dash to create a finished appearance.
