A safety and bolt assembly system for firearms, particularly for a shotgun. A firing pin is slideable within an opening in the gun's bolt to strike a shell in the gun. The firing pin being movable between a first position in which it is aligned with the opening and capable of sliding movement to strike the shell and a second position in which it is out of alignment with the opening and incapable of sliding movement to strike the shell. The gun safety system includes a spring for urging the firing pin away from the shell and an angled slot for moving and retaining the firing pin away from the shell when the bolt is in the second position. A link is adapted to connect the bolt/slide to a bolt operating system, a pin is secured to one of the bolt/slide or link, and a slot is present in the other of the bolt/slide or link to receive the pin. The slot is angled rearward to prevent movement of the pin from the slot during movement of the bolt/slide in the direction of the link. A leaf spring support member is movable to permit the pin to be removed from the slot while secured to the one of the bolt/slide or link and to permit the bolt/slide to be completely removed from the receiver without removing the operating system from the gun.

Safety and bolt assembly system for firearms

A pistol (10) has a combination action spring guide and slide buffer (58). The spring guide and buffer has a plastic head segment (64) and an integral plastic guide rod (66). The head segment has two enlarged diameter portions (68, 70) separated by a recess into which a metal plate (76) is positioned. The metal plate prevents deformation and deterioration of the head segment which acts as a cushion for the pistol slide (20).

A semiautomatic shotgun having a gas operating mechanism for unlocking a bolt and moving it from battery position. The operating mechanism includes an action bar and an inertia weight assembly which comprises a plurality of inertia elements. The inertia elements, the action bar and the bolt are arranged for movement relative to each other and impact at different times during the operating cycle. A return spring cooperates with the inertia weight assembly to maintain the various parts of the mechanism in fixed position relative to each other when the bolt is locked in battery.

Gas actuated operating mechanism for autoloading firearm

A device for positively blocking the firing pin in a firearm having a reciprocating breech-bolt that is substantially enclosed within the receiver, in which a finger-piece is provided on the outside of the receiver for shifting a safety bar into and out of a position to move a member on the breech-bolt into or out of a blocking position with respect to the firing pin such that the firing pin can not be driven home to discharge a cartridge.
