In certain embodiments, an imaging device includes an image sensor that includes a detector array. The detector array includes a plurality of detectors operable to receive a charge generated by light. The detector array also includes a plurality of detector sub-arrays each including one or more of the plurality of detectors. The one or more detectors of each detector sub-array are in a time delay and integration (TDI) configuration. The image sensor of the imaging device is operable to, for each of the plurality of detector sub-arrays of the detector array, generate an image signal corresponding to a scan of an object.

A system for measuring and analyzing body mechanics of a subject includes receivers, transmitters, a display and a processor. The processor which includes a controller which controls the timing of signals from the transmitters so that a signal from each of the transmitters contains an encoded signature which unambiguously identifies the signal as coming from that particular the transmitter. The processor also include a detector which detects signal transmissions as the signal transmissions arrive at the receivers, a signature determinator which recognizes the signature and determines from which particular transmitter the detected signal originated, a local timer which measures a temporal delay between times of emission of the signals from the transmitters and their detection at the receivers. A calculator computes geometric distances between each of the transmitters and each of the receivers and which also calculates a three-dimensional position of each of the receivers by using the geometric distances and known position of the transmitters.

An integrated two-color staring focal plane array is comprised of rows and columns of photodetector unit cells (10), each being capable of simultaneously integrating photocurrents resulting from the detection of two spectral bands. A readout circuit (20) in accordance with this invention performs a subtraction function, and includes a differential charge-sensing amplifier (22) in a one-per-column arrangement. The amplifier works in cooperation with circuitry (M5) located in each unit cell. The subtraction function is employed to create a separate Band1 signal from a Band2 and (Band1+Band2) signals generated by each simultaneous two-color detector (1). One significant advantage of the disclosed circuit embodiment is that it offers low spectral crosstalk between the two spectral bands.

An adaptive dynamic range control circuit architecture is disclosed that enables an IR-FPA (10) to achieve a higher dynamic range. The circuit architecture significantly reduces a resolution required for an analog-to-digital converter (ADC 24) that converts the analog output signals of the IR-FPA to a digital representation. In a preferred embodiment of this invention a column CTIA readout integrated circuit architecture is used in conjunction with the adaptive feedback circuitry of this invention to provide pedestal suppression on a per-pixel basis for the IR-FPA. The use of the circuitry of this invention modifies the conventional column CTIA amplifier configuration to a configuration having an auto-zeroed charge ratioed gain stage (50). One advantage to this technique is that by suppressing the charge pedestal, the usable signal output from the IR-FPA can be brought off-chip to the readout integrated circuit at a much higher gain. As a result, the ADC requires fewer bits to resolve the useable signal information and dynamic range.

A system for training a pitcher to pitch a baseball includes a plurality of emitting body markers worn by the pitchers, a plurality of position detectors for measuring both the position of the emitting body markers and the position of the pitched baseball, a target, a processor and a display. The processor is coupled to the emitting body markers, the position detectors and the target. The pitcher pitches the baseball to the target. The display is coupled to the processor. Each position detector is a locating array which has at least one ultrasonic transmitter and at least three non-collinear ultrasonic receivers. The locating array is disposed in the path of flight of the pitched baseball and and is used to determine the speed and the trajectory of the pitched baseball. The position of the emitting body markers are measured either optically or ultrasonically over a period of time so as to enable the analysis of the pitcher's body mechanics. The body mechanics analysis is also applicable to the golf, tennis, other sports and medical diagnostics.

An ultra low power gain circuit (UGC) implements a unique operational mode of a source follower circuit, and enables programmable gains greater than unity. A MOSFET has a gate terminal coupled to an input capacitance (Cin). A potential at a drain of the MOSFET is clocked to enable charge to flow through the channel. This charge charges a capacitor (Cout) that is connected to a source of the MOSFET. After charging Cout, the drain potential is restored to an initial value, and the charge on Cout discharges back through the MOSFET until the source voltage is one threshold drop from the gate potential, at which time the MOSFET turns off. Cout then stops discharging, and the final voltage appearing on Cout is a function of the magnitude of the gate voltage appearing on Cin. As the voltage at the source of the MOSFET changes, capacitive coupling, via (Cgs) to the gate, causes the gate voltage to also change. The value of the gate voltage determines a magnitude of a final voltage to which the source settles. A feedback effect is thereby produced which influences the voltage transfer function of the MOSFET. A minimum voltage gain is unity. However, through a selection of capacitor values for Cin and/or Cgs, a value of gain that is greater than unity can be achieved.

An integrated circuit, diode-based temperature sensor circuit (10) is amenable to fabrication upon a readout circuit (12) that is coupled during use to a FPA or radiation detectors. The sensor circuit is inherently self-calibrated, and provides for a cancellation of circuit offsets and other error sources. The circuit has an output that is time-multiplexed onto a data path that normally conveys a video data stream away from the readout circuit. The circuit operates to selectively forward bias a diode (D1) with two different currents. A difference between the currents is shown to indicate the temperature of the diode's p-n junction.
