Deployable devices, systems, and methods are provided. Some embodiments include a system that may include: multiple frames configured to support multiple elements; multiple longerons; multiple diagonals coupled with the multiple longerons; and multiple battens. One or more battens may be coupled with at least one or more longerons and one or more frames such that the respective batten is offset at least along a length of the respective longeron with respect to at least a hinge point between the respective longeron and another longeron from the multiple longerons or along a length of the respective frame with respect to a hinge point between the respective frame and another frame from the multiple frames. Some embodiments include a method for ensuring synchronous deployment of a system that may include orienting a hinge axis coupled with at least one longeron substantially perpendicular to a hinge axis coupled with two or more frames.

Rigid articulated batten integrated truss devices, systems, and methods

Integrated power module device, systems, and methods are provided in accordance with various embodiments. For example, some embodiments include a system that may include one or more integrated power modules. Each integrated power module may include: one or more solar cells; one or more rechargeable energy storage cells; and/or one or more circuits coupling the one or more solar cells with the one or more rechargeable energy storage cells. In some embodiments, each integrated power module is configured such that the one or more rechargeable energy storage cells of the respective integrated power module are coupled with one or more back sides of the one or more solar cells. In some embodiments, at least two of the one or more integrated power modules are coupled with each other at least in parallel or in series.

A conformal thermal ground plane is disclosed according to some embodiments along with a method of manufacturing a conformal thermal ground plane according to other embodiments. The method may include forming a first planar containment layer into a first non-planar containment layer having a first non-planar shape; forming a second planar containment layer into a second non-planar containment layer having a second non-planar shape; disposing a liquid cavity and a vapor cavity between the first non-planar containment layer and the second non-planar containment layer; sealing at least a portion of the first non-planar containment layer and at least a portion of the second non-planar containment layer; and charging at least the liquid cavity with a working fluid.

Methods, systems, and devices for foldable tube with unitary hinge are provided in accordance with various embodiments. Some embodiments include a device that may include one or more foldable tube sections configured to facilitate the deployment of an object with respect to an end portion of at least one of the one or more foldable tube sections; each of the one or more foldable tube sections may include one or more unitary hinge regions. The unitary hinge regions may include one or more longitudinal hinge regions configured to enable folding that is transverse to a primary axis of a respective foldable tube section. The unitary hinge regions may include a lateral hinge region configured to enable flattening that is parallel to a primary axis of a respective foldable tube section. Some embodiments may include a wire harness disposed within an interior portion of one or more foldable tube sections.

An apparatus includes a first planar region having a first surface configured to contact a heat sink. The apparatus also includes at least one second planar region having a second surface configured to contact a surface of at least one heat generating component, the at least one second planar region being parallel to the first planar region and disposed in at least one plane that is offset from the first planar region. The apparatus further includes a plurality of flexure regions disposed at an angle or curved relative to the first planar region and the at least one second planar region. The plurality of flexure regions connect the at least one second planar region to the first planar region. The first planar region and the at least one second planar region are formed of at least a thermally conductive material and a stiffening material and the plurality of flexure regions are formed of at least the stiffening material.

Furlable sail devices, systems, and methods are provided in accordance with various embodiments. For example, some embodiments include a system and/or device that may include: a furlable boom; a furlable sail coupled with a distal end of the furlable boom; and/or a shear take-up mechanism coupled with a root end of the furlable sail. In some embodiments, the shear take-up mechanism applies tension to the furlable sail. The shear-take up mechanism may include one or more springs coupled with the root end of the furlable sail. In some embodiments, the furlable sheet includes a structural sheet. The structural sheet may include one or more areas with bending stiffness. The structural sheet may be fabricated to be self-supporting. In some embodiments, the furlable boom includes a slit-tube boom. Some embodiments may be configured as deorbit sails.

Furlable sail devices, systems, and methods

Systems, devices, and methods for precision boom deployment are provided in accordance with various embodiments. The tools and techniques provided may have space and/or terrestrial applications. Some embodiments include a boom deployment system that may include a furlable boom. Some embodiments include: boom reinforcement devices, end fitting devices, contoured support devices, edge support devices, spiral harness devices, latch devices, combined boom spool and tension drive devices, and/or rotary encoder devices. Some embodiments may utilize a composite slit-tube boom. Some embodiments utilize a furlable boom that may be fabricated with curvature along its length.

Precision deployment devices, systems, and methods

Methods, systems, and devices for furlable antenna blade components are provided in accordance with various embodiments. For example, some embodiments include a device that may include one or more furlable antenna blade components; each of the one or more furlable antenna blade components may include one or more conductive elements. In some embodiments, each of the one or more furlable antenna blade components include one or more laminate layers. Some embodiments include a method that may include: furling one or more furlable antenna blade components around a central axis; and/or securing the one or more furlable antennae blade components when in a furled state.

Furlable antenna blade devices, systems, and methods

Passively deployable thermal management devices, systems, and methods are provided in accordance with various embodiments. For example, some embodiments include a passively deployable radiator device that may include: one or more thermally conductive layers; and/or one or more strain energy components configured to deploy passively the one or more thermally conductive layers. The one or more thermally conductive layers may include one or more carbon layers. The one or more carbon layers may include at least one or more graphite layers or one or more graphene layers. At least the one or more graphite layers or the one or more graphene layers include at least one or more pyrolytic graphite sheets or one or more pyrolytic graphene sheets.

Passively deployable thermal management devices, systems, and methods

Devices, methods, and systems for two-phase thermal management are provided in accordance with various embodiments. For example, a two-phase thermal management device is provided that may include two or more containment layers and/or one or more porous layers positioned between at least a portion of each of the two or more containment layers. The portion of each of the two or more containment layers and the one or more porous layers may be bonded with each other. The two or more containment layers and one or more porous layers may be bonded with each other to form an uninterrupted stack of material layers utilizing diffusion bonding. Some embodiments include a method of forming a two-phase thermal management device including arranging multiple materials layers including one or more porous layers positioned with respect to one or more containment layers; and/or bonding the multiple material layers with each other.

Two-phase thermal management devices, methods, and systems

Device, systems, and methods for boom deployment and/or boom stowage are provided in accordance with various embodiments. Some embodiments may facilitate root control of a boom utilizing a variety of tools and techniques. Some embodiments may facilitate boom tip control. Some embodiments may include a boom and a boom spool. Some embodiments include one or more devices that may include: one or more compliant components, one or more boom spreaders, one or more stabilizing tabs, one or more spool locks, one or more boom tip guides, one or more root clamps, and/or a single consolidation roller. Some embodiments include methods that may utilize one or more of the noted devices.

An extendible membrane system may include: an extendible central column; one or more membranes; and/or one or more foldable membrane supports configured to support the one or more membranes. Each of the one or more foldable membrane supports may be configured to extend from the extendible central column. In some embodiments, one or more of the one or more foldable membrane supports includes two or more segments that may be configured to couple with each other. A method of deploying one or more membranes may include unfolding one or more foldable membrane supports from a folded configuration to a linear configuration. An extendible membrane device may include one or more membranes and one or more foldable membrane supports configured to support the one or more membranes.

Methods and systems for thermal management of one or more LEDs are disclosed. One or more LEDs may be coupled with an external layer of a thermal ground plane according to some embodiments described herein. For example, the one or more LEDs may be electrically coupled with a circuit carrier with one or more electrically conductive traces etched therein prior to coupling with the thermal ground plane. The thermal ground plane may be charged with a working fluid and/or hermetically sealed after being coupled with the LED.
