Electrical power distribution busway joints include opposing plates of conductive and non-conductive materials for connecting between adjoining busway sections. The non-conductive plates comprise glass-filled epoxy laminate sheets having high thermal conductivity, high electrical resistance and good mechanical strength in the presence of excess moisture.

This invention relates to a high ampere-rated circuit breaker which meets the electrical code requirements of the world market. The circuit breaker electronic trip unit is contained within a recess in the circuit breaker cover and is interlocked with the circuit breaker operating mechanism to articulate the operating mechanism upon removal. A padlock assembly arranged within the circuit breaker case prevents the circuit breaker contacts from being closed and the cover from being removed. The padlock assembly is only functional when the circuit breaker contacts are in the OPEN condition.

The circuit breaker interlock arrangement of the invention utilizes a pair of detector assemblies, one mounted on the rear surface of each one of a pair of first and second adjoining circuit breakers and interconnected by means of an elongated rod. The operating mechanism tripping plunger rod in the first circuit breaker trips the associated first circuit breaker operating mechanism to open the first circuit breaker contacts when an attempt is made to close the first circuit breaker contacts when the second circuit breaker contacts in the second circuit breaker are already closed, and vice versa.

Industrial-rated circuit breaker

A secondary disconnect arrangement, in the form of a plug connector attached to the sides of a high ampere-rated circuit breaker assembly, interacts with a receptacle connector attached to the inner side walls of a circuit breaker enclosure. Movement of the circuit breaker in and out of the enclosure automatically connects and disconnects the plug connector from the receptacle connector. Terminals arranged on the plug connector on one side of the circuit breaker connect with internal circuit breaker components for communication and control functions, while terminals arranged on the plug connector on the opposite side provide connection between the internal circuit breaker components and remote auxiliary devices.

High ampere-circuit breaker secondary disconnect arrangement

A terminal screw assembly is attached to a high ampere-rated circuit breaker for connection between the internal electrical components and remote accessories, relays alarms and the like. A modular three-component metal connector arrangement provides electrical connection between one internal component and one remote accessory. A multichamber plastic terminal housing receives the connector arrangement and provides electrical isolation to each of the connectors within each arrangement.

A motor operator interface assembly allows a large industrial-rated circuit breaker to be manually operated between its ON and OFF conditions as well as electrically driven by a motor operator. The interface assembly includes a motor driver plate that connects and disconnects the circuit breaker operating handle from the motor operator unit to allow either manual or motor-driven operation. A drive pawl and drive plate insure resetting the circuit breaker.
