A motorcycle swing arm support assembly includes a bushing extending through a portion of the swing arm and the frame, a spacer, and a bolt extending through the frame, swing arm, bushing, spacer, and a portion of the motorcycle transmission case. The drive belt of the motorcycle defines a loop around the spacer. The drive belt may be removed without dropping or raising the transmission case by partially retracting the bolt so that the spacer may be removed and the belt replaced. The bushing has an elongated portion that may be extended through the swing arm and the frame to pivotally connect the frame and swing arm during the assembly process.

Motorcycle swing arm support assembly

A motorcycle includes a frame having an upper member, a pair of front members, a pair of lower members, and a pair of rear members. An engine is mounted to the frame with a pair of bolts, one of which is disposed adjacent the front members of the frame, and the other of which is disposed adjacent the lower members of the frame. The rear portion of the engine is mounted to the motorcycle transmission assembly along a vertical interface. The transmission assembly is mounted to a cross member joining the lower members of the frame, to the upper member of the frame with an upper support, and to the rear members of the frame with a swing arm bolt.

Motorcycle engine mounting assembly

A motorcycle includes a frame having an aperture, and a seat having an insert member that is inserted into the aperture to at least partially substantially secure the seat to the frame. A strap defines a loop surrounding a portion of the seat. The strap is manually releasably attached to the frame by way of a coupling member and a bushing having a biasing member. The coupling member includes an opening having an enlarged clearance portion and a reduced retaining portion, and the biasing member includes a split ring constructed of spring steel. When the bushing is positioned within the retaining portion of the opening with the split ring in the second condition, the biasing member resists movement of the coupling member. Manually-operable thumb screws are provided to permit quick attachment and release of the seat to the frame.

Motorcycle wheel hub

A motorcycle wheel has a hub, a rim, and a plurality of wire spokes extending between the hub and the rim. The hub comprises, a pair of opposed, unitary hub members, each of which includes a tubular body portion and a bowl-shaped spoke flange extending integrally from each of the body portions. A plurality of spaced apart spoke holes are formed in each of the spoke flanges and each is positioned for receiving one end of one of the spokes. A plurality of coupling members extend from the inner end of each body portion and are engageable when the hub members are placed end-to-end for coupling the hub members and for properly orienting the positions of the spoke holes in the spoke flange on one member relative to those on the other.

A fuel gauge for a fuel tank wherein external components of the gauge are configured to substantially resemble a conventional fuel filler cap, and in particular, the invention provides a single chambered fuel tank, fuel gauge and fuel filler cap configured to retain the appearance of a conventional dual chambered tank having separate fuel filler caps, but wherein the present fuel gauge retains the outward appearance of one of the caps for which it is substituted upon conversion of the dual chambered tank to a single chambered fuel tank.

Motorcycle fuel level gauge

An insert assembly for a stationary fuel tank filler cap retainer for motor vehicles including motorcycles and the like. The insert assembly includes a hollow inwardly threaded tubular stem to be received in the bore of a tubular member of the filler cap retainer communicating with an opening in the fuel tank. The insert assembly includes a retainer spring member having outwardly extending, angularly disposed spring clips to be received by a notched stationary retainer. The clips are further formed to provide an over-center latching relationship an inwardly extending flange of the retainer upon insertion into the insert assembly the bore of a hollow retainer tube. The insert assembly includes an internal continuous thread for threadingly receiving a fuel cap having a threaded closure stem, and further includes an outwardly extending flanged portion overlying the flange of the stationary retainer tube for protection from deleterious contact with a fuel dispensing nozzle.

Insert for fuel tank filler cap

A debris deflector for a motorcycle which employs a belt drive for the rear wheel includes a deflector plate positioned between the motorcycle swing arm and the tire. The deflector is located between the runs of the belt. The deflector includes an indentation in the area of the swing arm, an upper portion which extends below the upper run of the belt and extends beyond the outer edge thereof and a lower portion below the swing arm which terminates inwardly of the inner edge of the lower run. The debris deflector of the present invention may also include a tab extending across and spaced apart from the front edge of the tire and may further include a flexible flap attached to the fender of the motorcycle which extends downwardly from the front edge of the fender and passes between the tab and the wheel.

Debris deflector for belt drive motorcycles

A method and apparatus for galvanizing an elongated conductive metal element by drawing it through a bath of molten zinc in a conductive pan. Corrosion of the pan is prevented by electrically isolating the element from the pan, except through the zinc, eliminating circulating currents between the element and the pan wall. Quality of the coating, and particularly the uniformity of the thickness of the zinc deposited on the element, is improved by stabilizing the electrical potential in the element and thus the current flowing longitudinally through it. Where multiple elements are drawn in parallel through the bath for simultaneous galvanizing, circulating currents between them are minimized by electrically short circuiting the elements at the incoming and exit ends of the bath.
