A launchable grenade system is backwards compatible with conventional launch platforms and is capable of launching a variety of payloads at greater range and increased launch velocity, and with significantly improved targeting accuracy. The grenade is pre-packaged in a disposable launch canister that effectively confines launch ejection gases behind the projectile until it exits the canister. Additional enhancements in one or more embodiments, include collapsible aerodynamic stabilizers that are folded inside the launch canister prior to firing and deploy in flight to improve projectile stability and ballistic performance; electronic fuzing for improved repeatability and targeting precision, next-generation digital capabilities that include electronic device identification, failsafe and device monitoring; and momentum arresting forward expulsion of the payload to reduce blunt trauma hazard from projectile hardware and to provide for short distance targeting at significantly greater speed.

Launchable grenade system

A particle aerosol belt has a double-seal construction. A first zip-lock container contains the dry aerosol particles, such as brass metallic flake. The zip-lock containers are then placed in an elongate tubing. The tubing is sealed between the zip-lock containers to form a plurality of cells in which the zip-lock containers are disposed. A method of forming the particle aerosol belt includes introducing the brass metallic flake or other material, in the form of a slurry into the zip-lock containers, and drying the slurry, prior to sealing the zip-lock containers.

Particle aerosol belt

A rifle muzzle launched projectile having a launch tube defining an interior cavity, and having an opening at one end with an inner diameter sized to fit over the end of a rifle muzzle; a bullet trap located in the launch tube cavity; and a payload assembly mounted on the launch tube. The payload assembly is further configured for safely releasing a payload in a controlled manner. The payload assembly also includes a casing for retaining an aerosol composition; a propellant located in the casing; a primer for igniting the propellant; and a frangible portion of the casing in contact with the aerosol composition.

Rifle-launched non-lethal cargo dispenser

Disclosed is an aerosol generating device comprising a cartridge containing a propellant. When ignited, propellant gases expand through a diffuser, then through and into a clearing pad and then through and into a filler area, thereby de-agglomerating and fluidizing the filler and increasing pressure until a frangible end seal on the retainer end of the cartridge ruptures and releases the filler as an aerosol cloud. Methods for disseminating an aerosol and for using the device are also disclosed.

Propellant-based aerosol generation devices and method

A particulate aerosol dissemination device comprising a shreddable belt is disclosed. The belt has a plurality of individual cells aligned along the belt length and which extend across the belt width. The cells are separated by partitions extending between the cells across the belt width. The cells are capable of holding a solid aerosol filler comprising any one of the following: obscurant or smoke generating materials; pesticides; insecticides; fungicides; riot control agents; fertilizer; and feed. A method for disseminating a solid particle aerosol using the belt and a process for manufacturing the aerosol belt segments is also disclosed.

An aerosol generating device comprising a casing having a base end and a ainer end, with a firing primer mounted through the base end and extending into a propellant zone which contains a propellant. The firing primer is thereby detonationally connected to the propellant. A diffuser plate is mounted inside of the casing on a side of the propellant zone opposite to the firing primer. A filler area inside of the casing is adjacent to the diffuser on an opposite side to the propellant zone. The filler area contains particles of a powder having interstitial void space between the particles. A frangible end seal is attached to the casing within the retainer end, with the frangible end seal being positioned adjacent to the filler area on an opposite side of the diffuser. When activated, propellant gases expand through the diffuser into the fill area deagglomerating and fluidizing the powder particles and increasing pressure until the end seal ruptures and releases an aerosol cloud. A method for disseminating an aerosol using the device is also disclosed.

Propellant based aerosol generating device and method of use

A millimeter wave screening cloud-forming product is made by forming comped hollow disks of carbon fiber cut to a desired length. The handleable disks are stacked inside a grenade body forming a hollow cylindrical shape. A high explosive mass is inserted into the resulting compacted hollow cylinder, enabling bursting of the compacted mass to release the individual carbon fibers.

Method of assembly of compacted fibers and explosive charge for

A grenade launching apparatus launches a number of grenades and has a conller and a launcher. The controller controls the launching and includes a selector which is responsive to operator input for selecting one or more of the grenades to be launched. The controller also includes a display for indicating that a selected grenade has been launched. The launcher is for launching one or more of the grenades and includes a firing circuit which is responsive to the selector. The firing circuit activates the launcher to launch each selected grenade. The launcher also includes a launch detector for detecting that a selected grenade has been launched by the firing circuit. The display of the controller is responsive to the launch detector.

Grenade launching apparatus

An electrical system which serves to control the firing of multiple grenade aunchers. The system generates multiple coded tone pairs for up to sixteen launchers which are provided to the launchers through a +28VDC line connected to the vehicular power supply. The tone pairs are decoded enroute to each launcher which exercise a firing circuit triggering the grenade launcher's firing squib causing the grenade to launch.

Enhanced grenade launcher - big shot

A control system is provided for igniting and dispensing a smoke pot for ense of a hulled vehicle. The system utilizes a command circuit located inside the vehicle for using the vehicles power source to select smoke pot operations. A user can select an operation to ignite a desired smoke pot or an operation to ignite and release the smoke pot. Two power lines are arranged from the command circuit inside the vehicle to a control circuit located at the exterior of the hull for operating the smoke pot control system. A minimum number of apertures are required in leading the power lines to the control circuit. The control circuit activates the selected operations of the smoke pots.

Smoke pot dispenser control circuit

A minimum hazard visual screening cloud is formed by vaporizing diesel fuel nside a vehicle exhaust manifold pipe which, upon entering the ambient atmosphere, condenses into an aerosol comprised of small droplets, thereby producing a large sustaining cloud which obscures both the vehicle and the adjacent downwind areas.

Mobile smoke screening system

A particle smoke generator having a gas turbine for combusting air and fu and for discharging heated exhaust combustion gases. A venturi tube conveys the heated exhaust gases into a low-pressure region away from the combustion means. A supply of particulate smoke material is joined to a supply tube for conducting the particulate smoke material from the supply to the venturi tube. In the venturi tube the particulate smoke material is deagglomerated by the exhaust gases. The deagglomerated particles and gases are diffused in a diffuser nozzle to generate smoke in the atmosphere.

Particle smoke generator and method

A millimeter wave screening cloud is formed comprised of an aerosol of fine ibers of a carbon composition, in which the particles are of micron diameter and millimeter length. The cloud is formed by aerosolizing a compact mass of carbon composition fibers through the action of explosively bursting such compact mass in the atmosphere at the desired cloud location.
