An exhaust duct assembly includes a cooling liner spaced apart from an exhaust duct case that articulate for use in a short take off vertical landing (STOVL) type of aircraft. The cooling liner assembly is attached to the exhaust duct case through a foldable attachment hanger system. The foldable attachment hanger system provides a low profile (foldable up/down) for a limited access installation envelope typical of a three bearing swivel duct (3BSD) which rotates about three bearing planes to permit transition between a cruise configuration and a hover configuration. In this way, each cooling liner segment may be formed as a complete cylindrical member requiring joints only between the swivelable duct sections.

A seal for a gas turbine engine exhaust nozzle is provided, comprising a body, a spine member attached to one side of the body, and a plurality of face segments attached to the side of the body opposite that to which the spine member is attached. The body includes a length and a width, a plurality of corrugations formed in the body extending across the width, and a first and a second channel. One of the channels is positioned on one side of the body width and the other channel is positioned on the other side of the body width. Each face segment includes a first end and a second end. The ends of the face segments are freely received within the first and second channels such that the ends may translate within the channels.

Engine exhaust nozzle seal

A truncated spherical ball enters a cavity in a link using an entry slot in the link away from the end of the link and axially extending toward the link arm. Passage of the rotated ball through the entry slot is prevented by excess thickness of the ball relative to slot width until the link is expanded by heating. Full bearing surface exists at the end and sides of the link cavity and bearing surfaces are not contacted while forcing a fit. The ball is secure from inadvertent removal.
