A method and apparatus for identifying and tagging a target, such an individual or an item, are described that provide an improved mechanism for identifying the target without alerting the target. In this regard, a method and apparatus can irradiate the target so as to create a radioisotope signature for the target. By thereafter monitoring the radioisotope signature, the target can be identified and tracked in a covert manner.

Method and apparatus for tagging and identifying a target

A method, system and inertial navigation unit are provided in order to facilitate location determination by calibrating a location determined by an inertial navigation unit. The method may receive a magnetic pulse, such as a magnetic pulse generated by a lightening strike, with a plurality of first magnetometers and with a second magnetometer co-located with the inertial navigation unit. The method may also compare a representation of the magnetic pulse received by the plurality of first magnetometers to a respective representation of the magnetic pulse received by the second magnetometer. Further, the method may correct the location determined by the inertial navigation unit as a result of the comparing of the representation of the magnetic pulse received by the plurality of first magnetometers to the respective representation of the magnetic pulse received by the second magnetometer.

System and method for calibrating a location determined by an inertial navigation unit

A dosimeter and an associated method for detecting radiation are provided. A dosimeter includes a complementary pair of transistors, such as a first transistor that is doped in accordance with a first conductivity type, such as an n-doped metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) and a second transistor that is doped in accordance with a second conductivity type, different than the first conductivity type, such as a p-doped MOSFET. The first and second transistors may be configured to generate respective outputs that shift in opposite directions in response to radiation. The dosimeter may also include a circuit element configured to determine a measure of the radiation based upon a difference between the respective outputs of the first and second transistors. The circuit element may include an amplifier configured to amplify the difference between the respective outputs of the first and second transistors.

Dosimeter and associated method of measuring radiation

A system for imaging in a structure may include an energy beam source to direct an energy beam at the structure and a detector to detect a backscatter of the energy beam from any object in the structure. The system may also include a time-resolved function to generate an image of any object in the structure using the backscatter of the energy beam.
