The described features generally relate to a flight data recorder system for adaptively transmitting flight data from an aircraft. In particular, an aircraft may collect flight data from a first set of aircraft sensors. This collected flight data may then be transmitted from the aircraft by a communication terminal of the aircraft. A flight data communication scheduler may manage the selective transmission of the flight data from the aircraft, and monitor flight parameter values associated with the flight data collected from the first set of aircraft sensors. An indication of a trigger event may be obtained, and a second set of one or more aircraft sensors of the aircraft may be activated to collect additional flight data associated with the second set of sensors. A ground station may perform aspects of adaptively transmitting flight data from an aircraft, and store flight data in a ground-based flight data recorder.

Methods, systems, and devices are described for providing network access services to mobile users via multi-user network access terminals over a multi-beam satellite system. Quality-of-service (QoS) is controlled for the mobile devices at a per-user level according to user-specific traffic policies. Mobile users may be provisioned on the satellite system according to a set of traffic policies based on their service level agreement (SLA). System resources of the satellite may be allocated to mobile users based on the demand of each mobile user and the set of traffic polices associated with each mobile user, regardless of which multi-user network access terminal is used to access the system. Dynamic multiplexing of traffic from fixed terminals and mobile users on the same satellite beam can take advantage of statistical multiplexing of large numbers of users and on different usage patterns between fixed terminals and mobile users.

In embodiments, a multi-user network access terminal serving multiple communication devices on a vehicle via a communication link receives an indication associated with a pre-defined triggering event from a triggering device on a vehicle, identifies real-time data associated with the pre-defined triggering event for transmission via the communication link, prioritizes the real-time data relative to other data associated with the multiple communication devices for transmission via the communication link, and transmits the prioritized real-time data via the communication link.
