A device elucidates reaction dynamics of photoreactive compounds present in a region of interest (ROI) of a tissue, the ROI being submitted to a controllably-varying and spatially homogenous magnetic field. The device includes at least one electrical coil or magnet for externally applying a magnetic field to the ROI. The device further includes light sources for probing the ROI with a probe optical beam and for illuminating the ROI with an optical beam having a wavelength and power level suitable for activating the photoreactive compounds. Collectors are also provided to collect the light emitted from various photoluminescence mechanisms that occur in the optically-activated ROI when the probe beam is incident on it and then to detect the collected light over predetermined wavelength bands. Finally, a computer is used to analyze the detected light for assessing the effects of the external magnetic field applied to the ROI.

A method elucidates reaction dynamics of photoreactive compounds from time-resolved optical signals affected by an external magnetic field. A coil or magnet applies a magnetic field at a region of interest (ROI). A light or laser illuminates the ROI with a probe beam. An optical fiber collects light emitted by the probe beam; and a computer analyses the collected light.

Method for elucidating reaction dynamics of photoreactive compounds from optical signals affected by an external magnetic field

There is provided a method and system for positioning a mammal for optical imaging in which a digital image of the mammal is obtained using a camera and a region of interest is selected using the digital image. The selected region is registered with an optical imaging system and the mammal is positioned in the imaging system to image the selected region of interest.

Method and apparatus for selecting regions of interest in optical imaging

There is provided a method and system for collecting optical data for use in time resolved optical imaging wherein light is directionally propagated through free-space optics to impinge on a plurality of illumination at the surface of a biological tissue such as that comprised in small animals. Light re-emitted from the tissue is collected and directionally propagated through free space optics towards a detector to produce time resolved optical signals useful for optical image reconstructions.
