A seat including a hand grip and a seat back assembly. The seat back assembly has a rigid frame and a trim cover for covering at least a portion of the frame. The hand grip includes an outer surface, an inner surface, a grip area, a flange and a tab. The inner surface is opposite the outer surface. The grip area is defined in the outer surface and is adapted to accommodate a hand of a person. The flange bounds the grip area for concealing a portion or the trim cover during assembly of the hand grip to the seat. The tab extends outwardly from the inner surface of the grip. A distal end of the tab is generally parallel and spaced apart with the inner surface of the hand grip for receiving the frame therebetween.

A nesting chair includes a self-supporting base with a pair of leg members. Each leg member has a front leg portion, a rear leg portion, and a generally horizontal portion. A transverse member extends between and interconnects the horizontal portions of the leg members. The transverse member and the first and second leg members together define a self-supporting base. A seat cushion is supported in a generally horizontal position by the seat base. A generally L-shaped back support bracket has one end connected to the transverse member of the base and a second end connected to a seat back.

A chair comprises a seat support assembly including a seat support, the seat support assembly being adapted to stand on a surface so as to provide the seat support at a suitable height for a person to sit on, and a back support assembly, including a back frame member and a back support. In one embodiment, the back frame member has a curved middle portion substantially in the plane of the back support, and first and second end portions substantially in the plane of the seat support. The back frame member is flexibly interconnected to the seat support assembly by a first spring flexibly interconnecting the first end portion of the back frame member and the seat support assembly; and a second spring flexibly interconnecting the second end portion of the back frame and the seat support assembly.

A chair includes a generally horizontal seating surface with four legs extending downwardly from the seating surface. A first stiffener bar extends between and interconnects the front left leg and the rear left leg. A second stiffener bar extends between and interconnects the front right leg and the rear right leg. A ganger feature is provided for interconnecting the chair with a like chair in a side-by-side arrangement. The ganger feature is a ganger bracket interconnected with one of the stiffener bars and extending outwardly to an outward edge. An engagement tab extends upwardly from the outward edge. The other stiffener bar has a lower surface with a slot defined therein. The slot is sized and positioned so as to receive the engagement tab of a like chair so as to interconnect the chairs.

A stackable chair includes a base with a pair of inverted U-shaped leg members. Each of the leg members includes a front leg portion, a rear leg portion, and a generally horizontal portion interconnecting the front and rear leg portions. The base also has a generally horizontal seat cushion frame extending between the U-shaped leg members with the transverse front spring reinforcement bar extending side-to-side. A back support frame has a generally vertical portion with an upper and lower end and a generally horizontal end portion that extends from the lower end. The generally horizontal portion includes a transverse rear spring reinforcement bar. A spring member has one end interconnected with the front spring reinforcement bar and another end interconnected with the rear spring reinforcement bar. The spring member supports the back support frame such that the back support frame has an unstressed position and a reclined position. In the unstressed position, the generally horizontal portion of the back support frame is generally co-planar with the seat cushion frame. In the recline position, the generally vertical portion of the back support frame is moved rearwardly, and the generally horizontal portion of the back support frame is moved downwardly. The spring member biases the back support frame into the unstressed position. A seat cushion is supported by the seat cushion frame and the generally horizontal portion of the back support frame.

A stackable chair includes a base with a pair of inverted U-shaped leg members. Each of the leg members includes a front leg portion, a rear leg portion, and a generally horizontal portion interconnecting the front and rear leg portions. The base also has a generally horizontal seat cushion frame extending between the U-shaped leg members with the transverse front spring reinforcement bar extending side-to-side. A back support frame has a generally vertical portion with an upper and lower end and a generally horizontal portion that extends from the lower end. The generally horizontal portion includes a transverse rear spring reinforcement bar. A spring member has one end interconnected with the front spring reinforcement bar and another end interconnected with the rear spring reinforcement bar. The spring member supports the back support frame such that the back support frame has an unstressed position and a reclined position. In the unstressed position, the generally horizontal portion of the back support frame is generally co-planar with the seat cushion frame. In the recline position, the generally vertical portion of the back support frame is moved rearwardly, and the generally horizontal portion of the back support frame is moved downwardly. The spring member biases the back support frame into the unstressed position. A seat cushion is supported by the seat cushion frame and the generally horizontal portion of the back support frame.

A combination stiffener and ganger bracket is designed for a stackable chair of the type having a generally horizontal seating surface and four downwardly extending legs. The bracket has a generally planar body with an attachment tab at both of its ends. Two edges of the bracket extend between the ends of the bracket. A hook member extends from one of the edges while an engagement tab extends from the other edge. A stacking tab projects from the plane of the body.
