A trim bead for a building wall incorporates an outwardly extending flange portion to provide a mechanical key for a layer of exterior finishing coatings, such as stucco coatings. The trim bead may be used in stucco systems for exterior building walls that employ continuous thermal insulation over the building wall substrate.

A corrosion-resistant lath is provided for use in exterior finishing systems, such as stucco systems and exterior insulation and finish systems ('EIFS'). The lath includes in a first embodiment an open, woven fabric comprising weft and warp yarns containing non-metallic fibers, such as glass fibers. A portion of the weft yarns are undulated, resulting in an increased thickness for the fabric. The fabric is coated with a polymeric resin for substantially binding the weft yarns in the undulated condition. This invention also includes methods for making an exterior finish system and building wall including an exterior finish system using such a lath.

An exterior finishing system including a bond-compatible composite membrane having a first self-adhesive material layer and a second rough fabric layer, and its use as an intermediate layer between a building structure substrate and exterior finishing materials is provided. Unlike conventional composite membranes, the bond-compatible composite membrane has a rough surface that allows bonding materials to adhere to it. Therefore, mechanical devices are not needed to attach the exterior finishing materials to the building structure.

A composite building material for preventing water and moisture from remaining trapped within walls and roofs of building which includes a weather barrier fixedly attached to a three-dimensional matrix filamentous mat manufactured of a polymeric material. The mat contains a great number of voids for permitting gas and liquid such as water to flow therethrough. The mat possesses a crush-resistance which allows the mat to withstand the compressive of other building materials without inhibiting the ability of the mat to allow liquids and gases to flow therethrough.
