A tire inflation system and wheel speed sensor system having a hollow shaft rotatable with a drive mechanism. The shaft extends into the hollow end of an axle. A angular velocity system rotates with the shaft within the hollow end of the axle. A sensor, mounted within the axle, senses the rotation of the angular velocity system. The hollow shaft is a conduit for air from an air source to at least one tire.

A single-point magnetic contact latch assembly for 'parking' a read/write head of a memory storage device over a data-free landing zone during off-power conditions has one or more permanent magnets, a core having a curvilinear shape on one end and an annular flange formed on the opposing end, and a casing, having an open end and a partially closed end, covering the magnet(s). The core is disposed adjacent the magnet(s) and lies within the flux paths thereof. The casing covers the core and magnet(s) so that the curvilinear end of the core extends through the partially open end of the casing. The casing abuts an outer periphery surface of the flange with a press-fit so that the casing is outwardly radially deformed at the point of abutment securely anchoring the casing, and magnet(s) in position relative to the core. The single-point magnetic contact latch assembly is mounted to a crash stop of the memory storage device and engages a ferromagnetic portion of an actuator assembly used to position the read/write head along the storage device during off-power conditions, the latch assembly locating the read/write head over the landing zone to prevent damage to the memory storage device and the read/write head caused by physical contact between the two. An alternative embodiment of the magnetic latch assembly has a substantially spherically shaped core that also provides a single-point magnetic contact between the core and the actuation assembly.

An alternative embodiment of the magnetic latch assembly has a substantially spherically shaped core that also provides a single-point magnetic contact between the core and the actuation assembly.

A magnet device having a predetermined field profile has an elongated permanent magnet, having a longitudinal axis and a peripheral surface, magnetized diametrically with the direction of magnetization extending transversely to the longitudinal axis and rotating about at least a portion of the length of the longitudinal axis of the magnet. The rate of rotation is selected to provide a predetermined magnetic field profile as presented to a Hall effect device positioned a fixed distance from the peripheral surface of the magnet when relative movement between the Hall effect device and the permanent magnet occurs. The magnet is formed of a composite material which includes a magnetically isotropic permanent magnet powder adhered together by an adhesive non-magnetic binder.

Linear magnetic sensing device

A magnet roll for an electrophotographic device includes a magnet carrier assembly constituted by a plurality of identical cylindrical segments of injection molded plastic material. The segments are coaxially arranged and longitudinally aligned in an end-to-end relationahip on a spindlelike metal rod constituting the magnet roll axis of rotation. The segmented carrier assembly provides a plurality of longitudinally extending channels circumferentially spaced about the carrier assembly. The bottom of each channel has along its length a central groove that functions as a locator for an extruded, flexible magnet strip that mounts within the channel, each magnet strip having along the length of its underside a centered tongue that fits into the locator groove of its respective channel. Such a magnet roll provides for highly accurate positioning of the outer working surfaces of the magnet strips.

Fluid flow indicator is provided in which a fluid pressure to position transducer moves a permanent magnet from a no-flow position to a flow position in response to fluid pressure. The change in the position in the permanent magnet changes the intensity and polarity of the magnetic field that the permanent magnet places upon a Hall effect semiconductor; so that a switching function results as a function of fluid pressure differential causing no-flow and flow conditions. The change in magnitude and polarity of the magnetic field between first and second distances from one surface of the permanent magnet is increased by providing an opening through the permanent magnet and by providing a magnetic device near the opposite surface of the magnet.

Solid state magnetic microswitch

Magnetic switch apparatus which includes a casing having a magnetically sensitive component securely positioned therein in a predetermined location. The component may be in the form of either a conventional reed switch or Hall effect sensor and is provided with electrical terminal leads extending therefrom. The casing includes means for locating and securing the leads against movement upon application of a tensile force thereto, such means being in the form of suitable embossments in the casing about which the leads are partially wrapped. The casing further is provided with means for mounting the same on a supporting member, such as a circuit board, in a predetermined position such that the magnetic component will also be correspondingly positioned relative to the supporting member.
