Systems and methods for integrating a plurality of healthcare software applications. A user initiates one or more software applications required to perform different parts of a healthcare task. The software applications include a local application installed on the user's device and a web-based application accessed through a browser. A host application is launched in order to facilitate local two-way communication between the local application and the web-based application. The host application generates a local communication server on the user device through which the local application and web application communicate. This allows a user to easily and efficiently perform multiple parts of the healthcare tasks. This also allows different healthcare software applications to be integrated without requiring any plug-ins or other integration components to be installed on the user's device.

Systems and methods for integrating healthcare applications

A system and method of retrieving metadata, the method comprising: in response to a request from a client for metadata for a set of DICOM instances, loading n DICOM instances of the set of requested DICOM instances; comparing the metadata of the n loaded DICOM instances; generating a common set of values based on the comparison of the n loaded DICOM instances; streaming the common set of values to the client; determining per-instance data for each of the n loaded DICOM instances, the per-instance data being a difference between the metadata of a DICOM instance and the common set of values; transmitting the per-instance data of the loaded DICOM instances to the client; loading additional DICOM instances of the set of requested DICOM instances; determining per-instance data for each of the additional DICOM instances; and transmitting the per-instance data of the additional DICOM instances to the client.

System and method for retrieving and processing metadata

A method of processing an image, the image having pixel data with a bit range not capable of being encoded in a selected encoding format, the method comprising: splitting the pixel data into a base channel and at least one delta channel, at least one of the base channel and the at least one delta channel capable of being encoded in the selected encoding format; encoding at least one of the base channel and the at least one delta channel; transmitting the base channel and the at least one delta channel to a client; decoding the base channel and the at least one delta channel at the client; and recombining the base channel and the at least one delta channel at the client to form the pixel data. In some embodiments, the method further comprises: applying a window level to the pixel data formed from said recombining; and displaying the window level on a display.

Systems and methods for transmitting high dynamic range images

A system and method for automatically handling data objects within groupings in a PACS network. Where a data object belonging to one grouping is moved to or copied into another grouping, certain associated data objects will automatically be moved or copied to the other grouping. Similarly, where some data objects are deleted from a grouping, data objects associated with objects which will not be deleted are automatically protected from deletion.
