The methods comprise: receiving by a telescope () light scattered by an object within the environment; focusing a cone of light towards a spatial light modulator () which is placed a certain distance from the telescope on a telescope-focus surface; and deflecting a select amount of the cone of light by the spatial light modulator towards a photodiode array (), whereby a sensitivity across the photodiode array is made uniform.

Optical scanning devices and systems are disclosed. In one aspect, an optical scanning device comprises a first rotatable optical component and a second rotatable optical component. The first and second optical components are configured to rotate about a common optical axis and further configured to deflect an optical path of light transmitted or received through the optical scanning device. The device further comprises a mounting bracket positioned between the first and second optical components and comprises first and second motor assemblies configured to rotate the corresponding first and second optical components about the optical axis independently of each other. An inner portion of each of the first and second optical components is mounted to an outer portion of the corresponding first and second motor assemblies such that the optical axis is configured to extend through the center of the first and second optical components and tubes.

Optical scanning devices and systems

A geospatial and image data collection system includes a laser source configured to direct laser radiation toward a geospatial area, and an image sensor. The image sensor is configured to be operable in a first sensing mode to sense reflected laser radiation from the geospatial area representative of three dimensional (3D) geospatial data, and a second sensing mode to sense ambient radiation from the geospatial area representative of two dimensional (2D) image data. In addition, a controller is configured to operate the image sensor in the first and second sensing modes to generate the 3D geospatial data and 2D image data registered therewith.

An image processing device may include a memory, and a controller. The controller may cooperate with the memory for determining N nearest neighbors for each voxel among a plurality thereof, and determining a respective distance between each voxel and its N nearest neighboring voxels. The controller may also cooperate with the memory for selectively removing each given voxel if a respective distance to an Mnearest neighboring voxel is greater than a first threshold, and with M being less than or equal to N. Optionally, the controller may also cooperate with the memory for selectively removing each other given voxel if a respective distance to an Lnearest neighboring voxel is less than a second threshold, with the second threshold being less than the first threshold and with L being less than M.
