Peelable seal

A process for forming a peelable seal by heat sealing under combined application of heat and pressure at least two polyolefin film members having at least one oxidized surface therebetween, and the seal formed thereby.

Process for forming a peelable seal

Apparatus and method for making disposable thermometers of a laminated construction containing an array of liquid-crystal droplets, requiring precise registration of the stretchable substrate layer, the droplets and the temperature markings, wherein the substrate film web from which the thermometers are formed is provided with wide margins for handling in the forming machine to provide strength and avoid stretching and heat deformation. The substrate film web is precisely directed through the machine by suitable guide members and is held at the marking, filling, and heat-seal processing stations by suitable vacuum chucks, the chuck at the heat-sealing station being particularly adapted for cooling the web to avoid unwanted heating of the crystal droplets. A cam-operated transporter is used for precisely indexing the movement of the film.

Apparatus and process for the manufacture of disposable thermometers

A bag for storing blood components consisting of a sterilizable, flexible polyolefin container having at least two inlets at the top thereof forming part of the container and a bag-like protective closure hermetically enclosing the inlets. The protective closures are integral with the bag and formed by heat-sealing under combined application of heat and pressure a portion of at least two polyolefin film members having at least one oxidized surface therebetween so as to form a seal that is peelable to expose each of the inlets.

A bag for storing blood components consisting of a sterilizable, flexible closed container including a coded inlet-outlet fitment at the top thereof forming part of said closed container, said fitment including at least one inlet consisting of a hollow outward protrusion having on its outer diameter a coded configuration.
