The present disclosure provides an ice making evaporator that combines the cubic shape of pan and partition evaporators with the central ice making of a pin evaporator to achieve an ice shape that is mostly cubic. Separation of the cooling ability of these two evaporator portions allows cube shaping during ice making cycle based on time, temperature, pressure, or other variables.

There is provided a method that includes (a) controlling a vibrator to produce an acoustic wave in accordance with a signal that includes (i) an on-time during which a packet of pulses is generated, followed by (ii) an off-time during which no pulses are generated, and thus includes (iii) a frequency component, (b) receiving an electrical representation of the acoustic wave that has been detected from a body of water that is being frozen on a structure, (c) extracting, from the electrical representation, (i) the frequency component, and (ii) a magnitude of the frequency component, (d) recognizing that the magnitude of the frequency component exceeds a threshold value, thus yielding a recognition, and (e) issuing a command to remove the body of water from the structure, in response to the recognition. There is also provided a system that employs the method, and a storage device containing instructions for the method.

Ice-making machine that utilizes closed-loop harvest control with vibrational feedback

A refrigerant system includes a compressor connected to a first valve forming a harvest line, a condenser connected to the compressor by a first segment of conduit and an expansion device by a second segment of conduit with the condenser and the second segment of conduit forming a liquid line. A third segment of conduit is connected to the liquid line and the harvest line with the third segment of conduit having a second valve. The second valve allows flow of refrigerant from the liquid line to the harvest line through the third segment of conduit in an open position and the second valve blocking flow of the refrigerant from the liquid line to the harvest line through the third segment of conduit in a closed position.

The use of the following techniques to clean air: (1) inlet air filtration, (2) continuous recirculation air filtration, (3) water filtration and disinfection, (4) use of an air curtain in the ice bin opening, and (5) provision of clean air to the air assist pump during the harvest cycle.

Methods and systems for improving and maintaining the cleanliness of ice machines

Disclosed are methods and apparatuses for overcoming known plating deficiencies in evaporator assemblies in ice making machine. One embodiment joins the vertical and horizontal partitions together at their intersections so that all surfaces are susceptible for increased soldering/brazing by eliminating the 'voids' by changing the location and design of the 'weep holes' in the vertical and/or horizontal partitions. This provides more complete capillary path at the joint between the vertical and horizontal partitions and the evaporator pan allowing improved flow via capillary action of solder/brazing alloy during the joining of the assembled vertical and horizontal partition grid to the evaporator pan. Another embodiment increases the clearance between the partitions at their intersections to allow the post-joining plating treatment to penetrate and coat all the partition surfaces by widening the intersection slots in the partitions, but including &#x201c;stand-off&#x201d; features to center the mating partition in the widened intersection slot.
