A radiation-curable silicone release composition is described which comprises (A) from about 2% to about 7% by weight of an organopolysiloxane containing acryloxy groups, methacryloxy groups, or mixtures thereof; (B) from about 90% to about 98% by weight of at least one acrylated or methacrylated organic polyhydroxy compound or polyamino compound; and (C) from 0% to about 5% by weight of a photoinitiator. In a preferred embodiment, (B) comprises a mixture of (i) at least one acrylated or methacrylated organic polyhydroxy compound and (ii) at least one acrylated or methacrylated polyamino compound. A method of producing silicone release-coated substrates, the release-coated articles thus produced and multi-layer articles or constructions incorporating a silicone-release layer also are described. The release coated papers and the constructions embodying such release coated papers of the invention exhibit improved and desirable dimensional stability and remain flat under a variety of service conditions.

A composite laminate suitable for preparing release sheets or pressure-sensitive adhesive sheets is described. The composite laminate, in one embodiment, comprises (A) a substrate sheet of paper; (B) a first coating bonded to one surface of the substrate, said first coating comprising a radiation-cured composition acrylic comprising, prior to curing, a mixture of (i) at least one acrylated or methacrylated organic polyamino compound, and (ii) at least one acrylated or methacrylated organic polyhydroxy compound; and (C) a second coating bonded to the other surface of the substrate, said second coating comprising a polyolefin film.

Multi-layer composite

A metal composite is provided extended corrosion resistance. Prior to joining the metals of the composite, at least one of the metals is provided with a metallic undercoat. This undercoat is then coated with a metallic zinc layer. Lastly, a heat curable and substantially resin free topcoat is established on the zinc layer and cured. The topcoat composition contains chromium in non-elemental form and may further contain particulate metal, all in liquid medium. The metal composite is then formed by contacting metals including the thus coated metal. In addition to outstanding corrosion resistance, the composite can retain substrate weldability while further enhancing weatherability.

Chromic acid production is now simplified in a process using the concentrated dichromate typically available at an intermediate stage when chromic acid is produced from chrome ore. In the process, the dichromate is treated in a three-compartment cell as, for example, after removal of the sulfate or carbonate salt evolved in the overall production process. The dichromate feed enters the center compartment of the three-compartment cell and then flows through a porous diaphragm to the anode compartment of the cell and is electrolyzed at elevated current density. Depleted feed solution may be withdrawn from the center compartment and recirculated for reuse. Concentrated, water-white alkali product is produced in the cathode compartment. The anolyte from the cell, rich in chromic acid, can be concentrated, cooled, and the chromic acid recovered. Liquid removed from chromic acid recovery can be recirculated for subsequent electrolysis, as by combination with the feed. Both alkali product and anolyte chromic acid can be produced at enhanced current efficiency.

Chromic acid production process using a three-compartment cell

Chromic acid is now produced in simplified processing that also reduces acid contaminants, while using the alkali metal chromate typically available at an early stage in chromic acid production from chrome ore. In the process, chromate is converted to dichromate in the anode compartment of either a two-compartment, or three-compartment, electrolytic cell. During electrolysis, metal ion contamination is reduced. Withdrawn anolyte from this first cell may then be concentrated. The dichromate feed, possibly concentrated, is then introduced to the center compartment of a three-compartment electrolytic cell and flows through a porous diaphragm to the anode compartment of the cell. The anolyte from this later electrolytic cell, rich in chromic acid, can be concentrated, cooled, and the chromic acid recovered. Liquid removed from chromic acid recovery can be recycled. Alkali product is produced in the cathode compartment of each cell.

Production of chromic acid using two-compartment and three-compartment

An apparatus for treating fluids especially fluids in a recirculating toilet system wherein recycled flush water is chemically treated with a sanitizing material just prior to delivery to the toilet bowl. This system is designed so that the recycled flush water must flow by a predetermined volume of soluble sanitizing tablets which resuts in a rather uniform residual of sanitizing agent in the flush water which insures complete coliform kills. The sanitizing tablets consist of buffered hypochlorite materials to which may be added a suitable coloring agent so as to make the flush water more aesthetically pleasing.

A recirculating toilet having a bowl and a storage chamber, and recirculating means for recirculating liquid from the storage chamber through the bowl and back into the storage chamber. Filter means is interposed between the storage chamber and the recirculating means for filtering solid particles from liquid flowing from the storage chamber toward the recirculating means. A treatment chamber is interposed between the filter means and the recirculating means, and the treatment chamber has a volume substantially smaller than the storage chamber. Treatment means is provided for destroying bacteria in liquid contained in the treatment chamber (flush water).
