An electric motive power unit including a multiple phase AC electric machine and heat dissipative electronic components therefor, the improvement wherein the machine is disposed in a thermally conductive housing having cooling fluid passages formed therein, and the heat dissipative electronic components are individually mounted on an exterior periphery of said housing and distributed in a fashion wherein circulation of the fluid through said fluid passages for the cooling of said machine also serves to cool said heat dissipative electronic components.

Integrated AC machine

A rotor for an alternating current generator of the Lundell type. The rotor shaft carries two segments which have interleaved pole teeth. The rotor has a core member and a field coil disposed about the core member. The segments and/or core member are formed of compressed powder iron particles having a particle size in a range of about 10 to 250 microns. In the manufacture of the core and/or segments the iron powder particles are coated with a thermoplastic material and this thermoplastic coated iron particle material is compacted in the molding dies of a press. After compaction to the desired shape, the part is sintered at a temperature of about 2050.degree. F. to burn-off the thermoplastic material that coated the iron particles.

Alternating current generator rotor

An electric vehicle battery pack including a plurality of batteries ganged together in an underlying tray. The tray preferably has a plurality of pockets therein each for receiving an individual battery. The batteries are interlocked one to the next and held in place in the tray by a housing which bears down on the batteries by means of a resilient spacer positioned between the tops of the batteries and the ceiling of the housing. The pack forms a structural part of the vehicle in which it is used.

Electric vehicle battery pack

A stator assembly for an alternating current generator. The stator core is a one-piece molded part that is formed of iron powder having a particle size in a range of about 10 to 250 microns. The powder is bound together by a thermoplastic material which covers the particles and which serves to insulate the particles from each other. The particles may be coated with phosphorus and the phosphorus layer overcoated with the thermoplastic material. A three-phase output stator winding is carried by the core and has conductor portions located in core slots.

Stator assembly for an alternating current generator

An end frame and stator assembly for a dynamoelectric machine such as an alternating current generator. The assembly comprises a slotted stator core that supports a stator winding, a rotor bearing and a metallic heat dissipating insert that supports the bearing. The assembly has a plastic housing that is comprised of plastic material that is molded to the stator core and insert. The plastic housing does not encapsulate the stator winding. The metallic insert conducts heat away from the bearing and also adds stability to the plastic housing.
