An attachment for a tool used to attach and remove load break elbows and protective caps from bushings disposed on a transformer is provided. The tool attachment includes an elbow engaging member that is positionable around a load break elbow or cap fixed to a bushing. The engagement member is fixedly secured to a horizontal bar that includes a number of aligned openings extending through the bar. These openings are selectively alignable with a pair of openings disposed on a vertical bar to pivotally attach the vertical and horizontal bars to one another. The vertical bar also includes an opening through which a pulling eye on the elbow or cap can extend when the tool attachment is positioned on the elbow or cap. A conventional pulling tool can be attached to the eye as it extends through the vertical bar and utilized in conjunction with a pulling rope secured to the vertical bar opposite the pivoting connection in order to quickly and easily remove the elbow or attach the elbow to a bushing without causing extended arcing.

A step assembly is provided that can be easily slipped into a utility pole opening and locked in place, and then easily removed after use. The step assembly includes 1) a step member having first and second legs, which are connected at one end and open at the opposite end and 2) a lever member that is rotatably attached to the step member and that urges the first and second legs apart. The free end of the legs include tabs protruding upwardly. The step assembly is inserted into the utility pole opening by pressing the legs toward each other. The step assembly is then inserted into the opening. The legs are released such that the legs spread apart and press against the opening's sides. The lever member is then rotated, forcing the enlarged portion between the legs of the step assembly to lock the step assembly in place.

A bushing installation tool including a cylindrical housing adapted to be mounted on said bushing, a cap mounted on one end of the housing, a number of slots in the other end of the housing, a quick release strap assembly mounted on the other end of the housing for securing the housing to the bushing, a limited torque type ratchet wrench mounted on the cap for rotating the bushing into a bushing well, and a hexagonal nut mounted on the cap for rotating the housing in the other direction to remove the bushing from the well.

A high voltage fuse having a fuse assembly embedded in a granular dielectric material within a cylindrical dielectric housing, the fuse assembly including a number of fuse support surfaces, a support ring at each end of the plates to hold the plates in on equally spaced radial rotation, a conductive plate secured to each of said rings and including a threaded boss, a fuse element helically wound around said support surfaces and being electrically connected to said support plates, an electrically conductive end cap having a threaded stud and being mounted at one end of said housing, whereby the boss on one end of said fuse assembly is connected to said stud.
