An encapsulated stator assembly includes a plurality of like laminations stacked in registration with one another. Each lamination contacts at least one adjacent lamination, but none of them are integrally connected in any way to any other lamination. A single covering layer partially encloses and maintains in registration the plurality of like laminations. At least one post with a deflectable head extends from the covering layer. A motor assembly having a rotor assembly coupled with the stator assembly partially encapsulated by a covering layer is mountable to a control circuit board by inserting the deflectable heads into an appropriate receptacle on the circuit board. The motor assembly is used to operate a fan assembly carried by a housing. The method of molding a covering layer over the plurality of laminations is also disclosed.

Insulated stator core with attachment features

A blower assembly includes a rotor assembly having a shaft and a stator assembly coupled to the rotor assembly. A shrouded fan assembly is coupled to the shaft so as to generate an air flow when the shaft rotates. A unitary diffuser having a fan side opposite a motor side, is included wherein the fan side is coupled to the shrouded fan assembly. The unitary diffuser has ports for transferring the air flow from said fan side to said motor side. The motor side has a stator wall that partially encloses the stator assembly and the rotor assembly. An end cap is coupled to the stator wall for further enclosing the stator assembly and the rotor assembly. The assembly also includes a plurality of termination boxes disposed about the periphery of the stator wall for terminating the wire windings of the stator assembly. The end cap has at least one tab, and the stator wall has at least one tab receptacle that slidably receives the tab. A spring is interposed between the end cap and the rotor assembly to bias the end cap into a secure position with respect to the stator wall.

Fan blower assembly with one-piece air diffuser and bayonet-style end cap

An exhaust fan assembly for implementation with a hot water tank. The assembly includes a generally elliptical housing having a large end maintaining a fan and a smaller opposite end having an exhaust port. The fan is rotatable about a vertical axis and is positioned to be maintained over the exhaust vent of a hot water tank. The configuration of the housing as such is to be received between the inlet and outlet pipes of the hot water tank. A motor cup is press fit onto a lid which is formed as a portion of the housing on a top portion thereof, while a cover plate is press fit or snap fit into a circumferential flange about a bottom portion of the housing. The cover plate has an aperture therein in alignment with the fan to allow the fan to communicate with the flue pipe of the hot water tank. The cover plate and housing define a cavity within which the fan rotates, while further defining a path for movement of the exhaust gases and motor venting air to the exhaust port. The exhaust port and motor and fan axes are vertical and parallel to each other. A cylinder defined by the fan and a cylinder defined by the tubular exhaust port are preferrably parallel and non-intersecting.

Exhaust fan for water heater

A snap ring is provided for receipt within a circumferential groove of a bore to maintain a motor shaft and bearing assembly within a housing. The ring has an open sector to allow for flexibility. In one embodiment, a number of lobes, defined by tapered inwardly declining surfaces extend from the ring and protrude from the groove into the bore. As a bearing is urged past the groove, the lobes are urged into the groove to allow the bearing to pass. Once the bearing has cleared the groove, the spring-like nature of the ring causes the lobes to again extend into the bore such that bottom surfaces of the lobes engage a top surface of the bearing, retaining the bearing and shaft assembly within the bore. In another embodiment, the ring has a number of lobes defined by tapered outwardly declining surfaces, while a third embodiment includes lobes defined by alternating inwardly and outwardly tapered declining surfaces.
