A leak detection system for detecting leaks in a fluid plumbing system having a fluid supply line maintained within a predetermined elevated pressure range, at least one normally open supply valve having an actuator integral therewith for closing the valve in response to a supply of electrical power, a normally open circuit having at least one relay to connect the actuator with a source of electrical power, at least one programmable timer positioned opposite the at least one relay, wherein the timer contains a program formulated to initiate an electrical signal to close the relay and complete the circuit to supply electrical power to the actuator to close the supply valve, and at least one normally open pressure switch connected to the circuit and arranged to close when system pressure drops below a set point to complete the circuit and supply electrical power to close the supply valve.

Water system leak detection

A process for recovering a polyester, preferably polyethylene terephthalate, from contaminated polyester waste containing non-polyester components, such as polyester blended with cotton or other fibers in fabric or fiber forms, polyester magnetic tapes, coated polyester films and engineering resins, by dissolving the polyester in molten dimethylterephthalate, methyl-p-toluate or dimethylisophthalate as solvent and separating the polyester solution from the non-polyester components. The polyester can subsequently be recovered by crystallization or the polyester solution can be used as a feedstock for methanolysis to form dimethylterephthalate (DMT) and alkylene glycol. The DMT can be subsequently hydrolyzed to recover terephthalic acid (TPA).

Recovery of polyester from contaminated polyester waste

A corrugated plastic article comprising at least two corrugated plastic films each of polyethylene terephthalate held in contact with each other and capable of substantially maintaining its shape under extreme use conditions. Such corrugated plastic article when heated for 5 minutes at 150.degree.C. has a percent (%) fallout (i.e., the original peak-to-peak height of the corrugations minus the retained peak-to-peak height thereof after heating divided by the original peak-to-peak height) of less than 35%. In an electrical cable having a conductor core, this corrugated plastic article provides an improved protective member for the core, having good dielectric strength and mechanical strength, electrical stability, low moisture sensitivity and other properties, wherein the corrugations, strength and shape-retention capabilities of the article provide improved cushioning, insulation and other protection for the core.
