A vertical internal coating machine is taught, which may be used with bodies such as cans (2 piece, 3 piece, draw, redraw) and including cylinders, containers and any similar body. In the machine cans or similar bodies are sprayed with the star wheel in continuous motion without stopping and starting. The machine teaches that a plurality of spray guns may be provided for each pocket of the star wheel. By means of the machine an improved line layout is devised which may eliminate the need to raise the bodies immediately prior to a necker by allowing the vertical can internal coating machine and internal bake oven to be disposed on any level of the facility, upper, lower, mezzanine, etc. In green aspects, the machine may use negative pressure cabinets/hoods and positive pressure tunnels to entrain volatile organic chemicals emitted by the spray guns and coated bodies and may send these VOCs to a VOC destruction device, such as an oven.

A vertical closed loop link chain vacuum conveyor is provided. A conveying frame extends along a lane-like longitudinal conveying path. The frame has a vertical and longitudinally offset closed loop section. The closed loop section has a change in elevation including a decline and an incline, change in direction, and a central vacuum plenum. A multi-flex link chain is in guided support and travel in the conveying frame while running in trained contact about a link chain drive assembly. The multi-flex link chain is in evacuated communication with a suction generator is in ducted communication with the vacuum plenum.

Vacuum link chain conveyor

An endless loop belt conveyor system that is free of rollers is produced from a roller conveyor or a powered endless belt roller conveyor using a conversion kit. The conversion kit includes at least one endless loop belt conveyor guide; and at least two conveyor guide mounts. In addition, the conversion kit may include a motor driven roller section and an idler roller section both designed to be dropped in at the head portion or at the tail portion of a frame. The resulting converted conveyor system, and also the method of removing and replacing roller conveyors to convert the conveyor system to an endless belt conveyor that is free of rollers is taught.
