A single-shot inductor is provided to induction heat treat a complex workpiece that has an at least partially cylindrical component with its central axis coincident with the central axis of a circular component and connected at one end to the circular component with a diameter larger than the diameter of the at least partially cylindrical component. The single-shot inductor has a single crossover inductor section connected to the first ends of two longitudinal leg inductor sections with the second ends of the two longitudinal leg inductor sections connected to a collar inductor section that surrounds the entire circumference of the at least partially cylindrical component when the complex workpiece is loaded in the single-shot one-turn inductor for an induction heating application. Alternatively the single-shot inductor may have two collar inductor sections interconnected between two longitudinal leg inductor sections where one of the leg sections can accept a supply of alternating current.

Inductor for single-shot induction heating of complex workpieces

A system for installing a metal roof system including an insulation layer placed over a series of purlins and under a metal deck while preventing workers from falling through the insulation. The system is primarily comprised of a material handling assembly and a working deck. The material handling assembly includes at least one conveyor segment positioned across the purlin. Each conveyor segment is comprised of a rectangular frame in which is disposed a series of rollers. The rollers are disposed in parallel fashion relative to each other and in a lateral direction with respect to the frame. A roller assembly is secured to the conveyor segments at each purlin in order to accomplish lateral movement of the system as the roof installation process progresses. At least one winch is mounted to the material handling assembly, from which is extended a winch cable. The winch cable is secured to the far end of the building. The working deck is secured along a leading edge to each roller assembly and is fabricated from a corrugated metal such as to withstand the weight of several roofers, as well as materials and other equipment necessary to the installation of a metal roof system. A safety cable is provided on the leading edge of the material handling assembly to serve as a fall barrier. After a sufficient number of roof panels have been secured to the purlin, a retractable handrail and skid assembly is employed on each end of the trailing edge of the roof in order to provide a fall barrier for workers employed on the roof.

Metal roof installation system

An inductor for inductively heating bearing surfaces of a crankshaft is machined from a block of copper to provide parallel, closely spaced and integrally joined inductor block portions having machined coolant passages therein. The machined inductor is rigidly supported between juxtaposed side plates having portions of the inner surfaces thereof machined to provide recesses which receive the inductor and in which the inductor is clampingly engaged between the plates. Positioning fingers are supported by the side plates to accurately position the active face of the inductor relative to a bearing surface to be heated, and tubular leads extend upwardly between the side plates for connecting the inductor across a source of power. An inlet conduit for coolant extends laterally between the side plates, and the tubular leads provide outlets for coolant flow from the inductor.

Inductor for inductively heating crank shafts

A personal protection device is disclosed which utilizes a pressurized canister of non-lethal gas. The device comprises a barrel for holding the canister, a trigger, and a handle for holding and aiming the device. The handgun shape of the device results in strong tactile cues for quickly and accurately discharging the device. In the preferred embodiment, the barrel pivots for quickly loading and unloading. A compartment is provided in the handle for storing a spare cartridge. A safety is disclosed to prevent inadvertent discharge of the device.

Personal protection device

A method for induction heating and quench hardening of helical gears provides a hardness pattern uniformly distributed to a controlled depth across and between the teeth surfaces by means of axial scanning of the workpiece and uniform quenching. Uniform quenching is achieved by directing jets of quench fluid at the workpiece toothed surface at angles horizontally offset from the radial direction.

Method and apparatus of quench hardening of gear teeth surfaces

An induction heating device is provided which can be easily and inexpensively modified to inductively heat and quench harden workpiece bores of various diameters. The device consists of a permanently mounted mandrel and easily interchangeable inductor coil and quench modules which can be easily and rigidly connected to the mandrel.
