Disclosed herein is a method of 'reprogramming' highly motile cells found in tumors, such as these highly motile GSC and/or MDSC clones, into “auto-destructive” cell “missiles” (referred to herein as therapeutic stealth cells) that can seek and destroy new foci of recurrence within the body, such as the brain. Cells with enhanced motility can be sorted out from heterogeneous populations and then be rendered “auto-destructive” by deterministic delivery of an anti-cancer agent, such as an oncolytic virus plasmid cocktail.

Nano-engineered therapeutic stealth cells

A system for regulating the supply of conditioned gases to an environmentally controlled enclosure. A greenhouse or warehouse in which plants are grown are supplied with gases having a controlled absolute humidity, temperature, and carbon dioxide content. The properties of exhaust gas from the environmentally controlled enclosure are measured, and the mass of bone dry gas provided, the absolute humidity, temperature, and carbon dioxide content in the enclosure are maintained, and the transpiration rate of plants in the enclosure is measured by comparing properties of conditioned gas at the inlet with exhaust gas exhausted from the enclosure, in order to enhance transpiration of the plants in the enclosure, to allow the grower to maximize growth or other selected properties of the plants under cultivation.

Environmental control system for plant growth management

A fluidized spray vessel. A vessel design is provided for recovering heat from gaseous heat streams. The vessel utilizes a semi-fluidized bed for obtaining desirable liquid/vapor contact times. A spray section is provided in which liquid is sprayed through nozzles designed to provide a mean droplet size having a terminal velocity of from about sixty percent to about ninety five percent of the superficial upward gas velocity. These spray tower design criteria enhance spray tower performance, and thus enables more efficient heat recovery to be practiced, particularly in systems where relatively low grade heat sources are encountered.

A scrubber for removal of contaminants from gas by liquid contact. The scrubber has a gas and liquid tight containment walls, to contain a gas stream through the scrubber, and to allow recirculation of scrubbing liquid, without the need for external power. A plurality of preferably annular, downwardly extending underflow weirs arc provided to define therebetween a series of gas compartments. Preferably annular, upwardly extending overflow baffles are provided between adjacent underflow weirs, and liquid compartments are defined between the inner surface of an outer wall and the first overflow baffle, and between successive overflow baffles, if present. A charge of scrubbing liquid is provided, and gas is directed into the scrubber through an inlet nozzle, under the first underflow weir, over the first overflow baffle, and thence under the next underflow weir. Preferably, a mass transfer packing is provided in a tower after the last underflow weir, and more preferably, a final liquid level is maintained to allow flooding of the lower reaches of the mass transfer packing while gas is passed therethrough with sufficient velocity to attain efficient mass transfer. Mesh pad mist eliminators can also be provided before the clean gas exits the scrubber vessel. Alternately, parallelepiped shaped gas tight scrubbing units can be provided, containing a plurality of underflow weirs each followed by overflow baffles, where the overflow baffles include, near the bottom, liquid return apertures. The charge liquid can be changed by draining the scrubbing vessel and providing fresh scrubbing liquid.

Multiple weir scrubber

This invention is a packing for use in a packed tower. The packing has four axes and six webs and is symmetrical around each axes. The packing is of a geometrical configuration that with one of the axes pointing downwardly and the other three axes pointing upwardly and above the downwardly pointing axes the fluid can flow towards the center of the packing into an opening at its center. In the configuration with the three axes pointing downwardly and the one axis pointing upwardly the fluid is directed away from the center of the packing and flows off of the webs. With this geometrical configuration the flow of the fluid is evenly distributed throughout the packed bed.
