A portable gas cylinder is disclosed which includes a gas cylinder including an upper portion having a valve port and an annular mounting collar surrounding the valve port, a handle assembly including a housing having a body portion configured to mate with the upper portion of the gas cylinder, a pair of diametrically opposed gripping handles extending upwardly from the body portion and a central aperture providing access to the valve port, wherein an annular retention channel is formed in an undersurface of the housing, extending about the periphery of the central aperture for receiving the mounting flange of the gas cylinder, and a blocking ring for securing the mounting flange of the gas cylinder within the retention channel of the handle assembly.

A clip-on handle grip increases the surface area of a handle. The clip-on handle grip includes a grip body configured and adapted to engage a handle. A lock member is engaged with the grip body, for locking the engagement of the grip body with a handle. Such a clip-on handle grip can be used to improve ergonomics, the therefore to improve portability, for pressurized gas cylinders.

A compressed gas cylinder assembly is disclosed which includes a metallic cylinder body having an upper end portion with handles and a flow control valve, and a lower end portion with a convex surface from which depends a lower support ring. A non-conductive annular collar surrounds the lower support ring of the cylinder body, and a conductive foot ring connects the annular collar to the lower support ring of the cylinder body, providing a conductive path to ground for the metallic cylinder body.

Handle

A protective device for gas cylinders is provided that protects the body of the gas cylinder from damage, is light, does not affect the required heat exchange from the environment to the liquified gas within the gas cylinder and renders the gas cylinder assembly easier to stack for safe storage. The protective device in accordance with the principles of the invention comprises a top part and a bottom part forming a cavity within which the gas cylinder is placed. In accordance with an illustrative embodiment of the invention, the top part and bottom part are both made of synthetic materials and are interconnected during assembling process by a standard functional clipping device. These clippings may be broken in order for the protective device to be removed, allowing visual inspection of the gas cylinder without damaging the gas cylinder in the removal process.
