A bioreactor device includes a solid substrate having a first face and a second face. The solid substrate at least partially defines a perfusion channel, a plurality of chambers, a fluidic inlet, and a fluidic outlet. A first sheet disposed over the first face and a second sheet disposed over the second face. Characteristically, the combination of the solid substrate, the first sheet and the second sheet define the perfusion channel and each chamber of the plurality of chambers. The plurality of chambers are arranged in rows of chambers in which adjacent chambers are positioned at opposite side of the perfusion channel. The perfusion channel extends from the fluidic inlet and the fluidic outlet having a serpentine path along each row of chambers with each chamber being in fluid communication with the perfusion channel.

3D printed micro-millifluidic bioreactors for long-term retinal organoid maintenance

A recharging system for recharging batteries or providing power to an implantable device includes an electric coil adapted to be coupled to the implantable device, the electric coil defining a coil interior and a coil exterior. A magnetic component is coupled to the electric coil and adapted to at least partially surround the implantable device. A mechanical actuator is attached to the magnetic component, the mechanical actuator converting compression motion into motion of the magnetic component relative to the electric coil.

Cardiac energy harvesting device and methods of use

A multielectrode array with a fluidic channel and its method of fabrication are presented here. In accordance with various embodiments, the present invention allows for scalability, reproducibility, and precision dimension control by utilizing a lithography dependent process. In one embodiment, the present invention provides for a microelectrode that is a neural implant, with the microelectrode configured for connection to a fluidic channel. In another embodiment, the fluidic channel may deliver growth factors and/or drugs.

Multielectrode array and method of fabrication

A device for identifying infection by the malaria parasite includes a microfluidic device having an inlet and an outlet and a diagnostic channel interposed between the inlet and the outlet. The diagnostic channel includes a contact surface and a sample pump configured to pump a RBC-containing sample into the inlet. The contact surface may be at least one of hydrophilic and roughened. Malaria infected RBCs (miRBCs) interact with the contact surface and become immobilized thereon whereas non-infected RBCs continue to flow downstream in the diagnostic channel.

Microfluidic devices and methods for malaria detection

A neural probe device includes a housing configured to receive a nerve fiber of a subject and an anchor disposed within the housing and configured to fix the nerve fiber relative to the housing. The device further includes a plurality of actuatable, moveable electrodes disposed in the housing along a length of the nerve fiber, each moveable electrode comprising a plurality of projections containing one or more electrodes thereon, wherein actuation of the moveable electrode causes the moveable electrode to move generally transverse to a long axis of the nerve fiber and penetrate the nerve fiber with the plurality of projections. The device is also optionally configured to inject a growth factor into the nerve fiber to maintain the viability of the nerve fiber.

Neural probe array and method of use

Devices, systems and methods that comprise or utilize implantable electrode arrays for neural stimulation and/or sensing. In some embodiments, the electrode array is implanted or inserted into the auditory nerve and is used to deliver electrical impulses to/receive data from the auditory nerve in the treatment of hearing disorders.

High density micromachined electrode arrays useable for auditory nerve implants and related methods

A microbridge device for use as a sensor or an actuator is driven parallel to a substrate as a resonant microstructure. The microstructure comprises a stationary thin-film electrode secured to the substrate and located in a plane above it. A movable plate overlaying the substrate is suspended above it. The movable plate and electrode are patterned to provide for each at least one comb with fingers interdigitated with those of the other.
