A pre-wound bobbin for sewing, having a single flange or a pair of flanges, in which one flange of the bobbin comprises a magnetized material such that the flange magnetically adheres to the end wall of a steel bobbin case in which the bobbin is carried in a sewing machine. The flange is sized to provide a contact area with the end wall that, in relation to the magnetic strength of the magnetized material, achieves a magnetic attraction force exceeding the weight of the bobbin so that the bobbin is held in the bobbin case. The flange preferably is flexible.

A magnetically detectable bobbin for a sewing machine. The apparatus includes a substantially non-metallic detectable bobbin core. The core includes a substantially non-metallic cylindrical body having a detectable dopant in the cylindrical body. In the preferred embodiment, the dopant is magnetite. The thread supply is wound about the bobbin core after a frictional outer surface is applied to the bobbin core to aid in windability of the thread supply.

Detectable bobbin and core

A method and apparatus for bonding, coating and/or dyeing yarn which impregnates the yarn with a solution containing at least one of a polymer resin, coating or dyestuff dissolved in a flammable solvent/carrier. The solvent/carrier in the impregnated yarn is then ignited to burn away a part of the solvent/carrier from the yarn. A portion of the solvent/carrier remains in the yarn to prevent damage to the yarn. The yarn containing the residual solvent/carrier then is dried at an elevated temperature.

Method and apparatus for bonding, coating and dyeing yarn

A lockable closure cap assembly includes a closure cap having a threaded bore for threadable engagement with the threads of a container neck, an annular shell surrounding said closure cap, and a lock/cam/clutch mechanism for selectively engaging and disengaging the closure cap with the annular shell to permit rotation of the closure cap with the annular shell and free rotation of the annular shell with respect to the closure cap, respectively. The mechanism includes at least one projection on the closure cap, a lock assembly mounted in a fluted bore in said annular shell; the lock assembly has one or more key (or combination) operated lock elements projecting laterally of the axes of said lock. The annular shell has a fluted bore in a surface thereof for receiving said lock assembly with one or more lock elements received in a flute in the fluted bore to prevent rotation thereof in the absence of a key, and permit rotation only on the presence of a key, and a clutch device operated only by the presence of a key in said lock assembly to engage and engage said closure cap with said annular shell. The cam/clutch portion of the mechanism has a clutch shoe carrier for clutch shoes which have cam surfaces interacting with a cam element on the lock cylinder to project and retract the clutch shoes to engage and disengage with a clutch projection on the closure cap.

Lockable closure cap

A lockable closure cap for bottles and containers having externally threaded necks. A closure cap having internal threads coacting with the external threads to seal a bottle has an integrally formed annular cylindrical clutch element projecting upwardly from the closure cap. An annular shell housing having a downwardly depending annular skirt to completely enclose the closure cap and prevent external access to the closure cap. An annular rib coacts between the annular shell housing and the closure cap to retain the two in assembly and rotatable relative to one another. A clutch shoe carrier has a pair of clutch shoes which are retained in position by a spring. A lock mechanism secured in the annular shell housing has a pair of cam elements which engage the clutch shoe means to urge them outwardly against the action of the spring and into engagement with the cylindrical clutch element so as to lock the housing to the closure cap via the clutch mechanism so that rotation of the shell housing causes rotation of the closure cap so as to remove same.

A liquid distributing apparatus, particularly for incorporation in lids or covers of 3 to 5 gallon containers, has a four-way input valve for delivering water under pressure to wash hands, clean materials, etc., fill the tank on which the lid is placed and to drive rotor shafted to a spur gear which drives an agitator for keeping the concentrate in the tank stirred-up, with a manual input for initially stirring-up or agitating the concentrate. An indicator is provided on the manual drive to show that the agitator (and hence the rotor) is operating. An aspirator or jet pump receives the liquid or water downstream of the rotor and the input aspirator or vacuum line from the concentrate or tank passes through a ball check valve which has an indicator coupled thereto for indicating the flow of concentrate from the tank to the jet pump to be mixed with the water. A valve with predetermined controls the degree or ratio of concentrate. A pressure meter on the input to the jet pump measures the input water pressure and has a gauge for indicating, for corresponding pressures and predetermined openings of the needle valve, what is the degree or ratio of concentrate to water being delivered to the place of utilization such as herbicides, insecticides and fertilizers. Moreover, the ball valve is provided with a flag indicator which, according to the degree of protrusion, provides a further indication of the ratio of concentrate being delivered to be mixed with the water.

Integrated liquid distribution apparatus

A ratcheting wrench is comprised of a pair of movable jaws, each provided with clevis extensions which are commonly pivoted together with an operating handle having an integral jaw extension which jaw extension moves between the clevis extensions on each movable jaw. The movable jaws open to permit the wrench to enclose a pipe run, for example, and the jaws are locked in a closed position preferably by a toggle linkage. While the toggle mechanism is latched, the handle can be operated about an enclosed and difficult to access work piece such as a pipe run, or conventionally with respect to nuts and bolts in a ratcheting fashion.

Universal ratcheting wrench

A compact torque converter tool having high mechanical advantages comprised of an input bevel gear having an axis colinear with the direction of drive, meshed with a further bevel gear having an axis transverse to the direction of drive, the further bevel gear having a gear member meshed to drive a gear driving a worm or helical gear with an axis transverse to the direction of drive but spaced therefrom, and an output gear coaxial with the input and has gear member meshed with the worm gear. The worm gear may also be driven by an input spur gear having an axis colinear with the direction of drive, meshed with a further spur gear that is coaxial with a helical thread gear that is meshed with another helical gear that is coaxial with the helical thread worm gear. The helical thread (or worm) on the worm gear can be oriented so as to drive a concave faced gear wheel (or worm wheel) in a selected direction.

Compact torque converter tool

A plant support in which a wire loop plant support is adjustably supported in cantelever fashion from a post at fixed positions on the post by a post coupling structure including at least one terminal end of the wire being formed as a projection integral with the wire loop for piercing or otherwise entering the post and a reaction bearing member also integral with the wire loop but at a lower level than the integral projection so that downward acting plant loads on the cantelever plant support urge the reaction bearing member against the post and the projection into the post. The spacing between the sharp tip of the projection and the bearing member is sufficient to permit the integral post coupling structure to slide down the post to any selected position and, pivot to a horizontal loop position about the reaction bearing member. When in the preferred embodiment of the invention the post is wooden and cylindrical, the piercing projection enters the wood so that the wire loop can thereby be angularly oriented at any desired position relative to the axis of the post.

Plant support

A plant/vine support comprises a post or stake member adapted to be driven into the earth spaced a distance away from the plant or vine and a plurality of rings, each ring having integrally formed stabilizing members for stabilizing the rings in vertical and horizontal planes and connectors for detachably securing the rings to the post or stake. In one embodiment, pairs of holes in the channel post receives pairs of locking hooks and, in another embodiment, one of the locking hooks is a locking detent. Both embodiments are low in cost and can be easily manufactured. The component parts in both embodiments have relatively flat dimensions and can be transported easily, and they are easily assembled and disassembled and stored and various size rings, frames or hoops may be utilized in various combinations on a common post.

Vertical plant support with horizontal hoops

The plant/vine support disclosed utilized a channel shaped post having a U-shaped central portion and a pair of laterally projecting flanges with locking lug pairs integrally formed on the flanges and a locking lug and shoulders in the U-shape of the post. The ring is provided with a complementary shaped locking structure which is coplaner with the ring support per se and adapted to interengagingly locking maneuver as well as a simple unlocking and disassembling maneuver. The rings are simple, stack flat and are far less susceptible of hooking with one another and thereby entangling themselves during storage.
