A railcar coupler which integrates fluid and electrical connectors into one modular unit with increased facility for automatically making such connections when cars are pushed together while achieving compatibility between Janney type and Automatic Intermodal Railway Car Couplers.

Automatic railway car electrical and pneumatic coupler

A U-shaped vehicle with flexible beams equipped with an adjustable toe-angle, variable height suspension. Containers are attached between the beams of the vehicle. The rear suspension has a variable toe angle to control the spread of the beams so the vehicle can back around a container. Rear wheel axles are mounted on arms connected to pivot joints. An axle and its pivot points are non-co-planer. The pivot points are angled so that an outer pivot point is higher than an inner pivot point. When the vehicle is lowered close to the ground, the rear wheels develop slight toe out. When the vehicle is raised above Its normal ride height, the rear wheels develop slight toe in, and the beams of the vehicle spread apart when the vehicle is driven in reverse.

An inward opening oven intake for a gas chromatographic (GC) oven includes an inward opening intake flap that opens into the GC oven near the bottom of the GC oven. Opening at a flap angle, the inward opening intake flap creates a low-pressure region to draw a large amount of airflow into the GC oven during cool-down. In addition, the inward opening oven intake manipulates the airflow within the GC oven to more efficiently draw heat away from the oven walls. This greater efficiency allows for faster cycle time and higher sample throughput.

A pivotally mounted spade connector for attaching an intermodal sea container to a U-shaped vehicle. A sleeve is rigidly connected to the container to receive the spade connector. A ledge is located on the U-shaped vehicle and is received within a groove on the container. The U-shaded vehicle lowers to the ground, backs up to surround the container, the ledge is guided onto the groove, and the spade connector is projected into the sleeve. The container is connected to the vehicle and both are raised in order to transport the container over roads.
