A method is provided for detecting at least one fitness related activity is provided. Data is obtained from at least one sensor of a wearable device, wherein the at least one sensor detects the data based on at least one body movement of a user wearing the wearable device. Based on the obtained data, the at least one fitness related activity is detected from a set of fitness related activities, wherein the detection is performed without pre-training by the user for the detecting.

Automated activity detection and tracking

A system with a plurality of microphones positioned at different locations, and a modification system in communication with the microphones. The modification system is configured to derive a plurality of audio signals from the plurality of microphones, compute a confidence score for each derived audio signal, and based on the computed confidence scores, use one derived audio signal to modify another audio signal.

Processing speech from distributed microphones

A waveguide for conducting sound that is generated by a loudspeaker that is acoustically coupled to the waveguide. There is a duct with an external wall, an interior opening circumscribed by the wall, and an outlet, and an air-adsorbent structure coupled to an inside of the external wall of the duct such that the air adsorbent structure lines at least a portion of the wall. The apparent volume ratio of the air adsorbent structure is at least about 1.5.

Waveguide

An audio system for manipulating audio material for playback based on the content of the material includes an input for receiving input audio signals, an output for providing output audio signals to loudspeakers, and an audio processor that processes the input audio signals to produce the output audio signals. The audio processor determines a type of content represented by the input audio signals, selects a set of processing instructions to control the spatial presentation of the audio material based on the determined type, and applies the selected set of processing instructions to the input audio signals.

Content-aware audio modes

A conversation assistance system with a bi-lateral array of microphones arranged externally of a space that does not include any array microphones, where the space has a left side, a right side, a front and a back, the array comprising a left side sub-array of multiple microphones and a right side sub-array of multiple microphones, where each microphone has a microphone output signal, and a processor that creates from the microphone output signals a left-ear audio signal and a right-ear audio signal. The left-ear audio signal is created based on the microphone output signals from one or more of the microphones of the left-side sub-array and one or more of the microphones of the right-side sub-array and the right-ear audio signal is created based on the microphone output signals from one or more of the microphones of the left-side sub-array and one or more of the microphones of the right-side sub-array.

Conversation assistance system

An audio system including a rendering processor for separately rendering a dialogue channel and a center music channel. The audio system may include circuitry for extracting one or both of the dialogue channel or the center music channel from program material that does not include both a dialogue channel and a center music channel. The dialogue channel and the center music channel may be radiated with different radiation patterns.

Center channel rendering

An three-way audio system that uses directional arrays for radiating mid-frequency acoustic energy and passive directional devices to radiate the high frequencies. the system includes a left channel, a right channel, and a center channel. A crossover network separates the left channel and the right channel into low frequency content, midrange frequency content, and high frequency content. An omnidirectional acoustical device radiates acoustic energy corresponding to the low frequency content of the combined left channel, right channel and center channel. A first directional array, comprising signal processing circuitry and more than one acoustic driver, radiates acoustic energy corresponding to the midrange content of one of the left channel and right channel signal so that more acoustic energy corresponding to the midrange content of one of the left channel signal and the right channel signal is radiated laterally than in other directions. A first passive directional device, radiates acoustic energy corresponding to the high frequency content of the one of the left channel and right channel signal so that more acoustic energy corresponding to the high frequency content of the one of the left channel signal and the right channel signal is radiated laterally than in other directions.

Active and passive directional acoustic radiating

An audio system that may be implemented in a television, that includes a plurality of directional arrays. The arrays may include a common acoustic driver and may be spaces non-uniformly.

Multi-element directional acoustic arrays

An audio system including a left input channel signal, a right input channel signal, and a discrete center input channel. Circuitry removes correlated content from the left input channel signal and the right input channel signal and inserts the correlated content into the center input channel signal to provide a modified left input channel signal, a modified right input channel signal, and a modified center input channel signal. The modified left input channel signal is radiated by a directional loudspeaker so that radiation in a direction toward a listening area is less than radiation in other directions. The modified right channel input channel signal is radiated by a directional loudspeaker so that radiation in a direction toward a listening area is less than radiation in other directions.

A set of filters is configured to distribute input signals representing a single perceptual axis to first and second physically separate arrays of loudspeakers comprising at least first and second transducers, such that the arrays of loudspeakers will create an array pattern corresponding to the input signals when the input signals are between a first frequency and a second frequency.

Acoustic transducer array signal processing

Video processing for enhancing contrast includes detecting the ambient light levels on a display, performing local contrast enhancement processing to emphasize the luminance component based on the detected ambient light levels to provide a processed video signal, and presenting the processed video signal on the display.

Enhancing contrast

Audio electrical signals are controlled to be provided to a plurality of electroacoustical transducers of an array to achieve directivity and acoustic volume characteristics that are varied with respect to a parameter associated with operation of the array. The controlling of the signals results in a change in the radiated acoustic power spectrum of the array as the characteristics are varied. The change in the radiated acoustic power spectrum of the array is compensated.
